Soooo, the Mrs comes to me last night saying she wants a Fiat 500.

I don't know much about them and I am not sure what to make of them.

Does anyone have one and able to provide some kind of feedback?

It does look very small. Will have a look at the line-up on the engines this afternoon, thanks for the heads up.

Yes, it's a super mini as they call them...

There's 2 twin air engines but not sure which is available in SA, otherwise the diesel, the 1.2 is thirsty and underpowered

Its actually a really awesome little car.
Had one as a rental in Mauritius and I loved it.

I was advised by someone in the office to go for the 1.4 as its not too heavy on fuel and for a 1.4 its got decent power (100HP engine)

Super nice car, best look I've seen is cream/white with red/maroon roof folding open.
That being said, unless you get an Abarth or equivalent it’s a chick car

Its a chick car for sure! No one has said anything bad here or at the office about it which I guess is a positive. When she said Fiat it brought back all the bad memories of the older Fiats like the Uno and Palio.

I'm currently driving the wife's one. 1.4l drop top. Perfect city car, and it does go some when you need to.
Light on juice, easy to park etc.
It's small, but bigger than say, a Mini for instance (interior space for passengers) - the Italians know how to make small cars.
That said, the reason I'm driving it is that 2 doors doesn't work so well for a baby seat, so bear that in mind. And the boot is SMALL (although not so bad if you don't take the convertible)

I have seen pics of the boot and it is TINY! I will admit the drop top looks cool but she already told me she wants one with the panoramic roof.

I have a feeling she has been thinking about this for a while, she has mentioned what colour would be "cool" and what colour intrior seats would match....LOL

What is wrong with the UNO?

Our family had about 5 in our lifetime. Not a single days issues. (Reason why there were 5 is due to theft and an accident).

They were brilliant cars! In fact, my fathers one worker is driving the one I used when I was just out of high school. Its 20 years old and still goes strong.

To be fair I only ever had 1 and that was for a year.

It kept flooding in the rain, passengers feet would almost be ankle deep in heavy rain. When the headlights were turned on the car's revs dropped down to 400rpm. Countless oil leaks.

Other than that the little thing never said die and was light on fuel, and when you are 18 that counts for everything. Never hated it but when my wife mentioned the 500 it just brought back all the bad memories of the Uno.

Then don't let her test drive a drop top model. My wife was also keen on the panoramic. We thought the drop top was an unnecessary extravagance. Until she drove one. (At least she had the patience to shop around until she found a demo model at a great price)

Very cool, but - sunburn!

Thanks Drifter...Tis but only a drop in the ocean! WOW! R600k....does it have a real Ferrari engine :wtf:

She is used to a convertible as she drives my SLK quite often. That being said she told me that the Fiat 500 also comes in a convertible but she wants the panoramic as she does not like the soft top.
