Fiat 500

Our 1.4 Sport is about 5 years old now and touch wood no problems, its a brilliant little car in and around town. Its a slight squeeze for me, im 1.9m tall, but its such a fun car to drive I dont really care. Still some nice DIESEL editions available second hand

Just got back from test driving a red 1.4 Lounge with a panormaic roof. I can honestly say WOW!

For a little car like that the 1.4 engine really goes. Its got a serious little punch. And I drive a 2.0l Kompressor so was not expecting to feel much from the little fiesty Italian

As I was driving I realised how much the car had me smiling. Its got decent features too. Not bad for such a little package.

Then I had to deal with the wife and her "So....shall we get one?"

Sounds like you just bought one :)

Too true hahaha. Honestly though its a great little car. If it's what the Mrs wants I don't have a problem this little Italian

I bought a Mini Cooper about ten years ago because I had time on my hands and took one for a test drive. Got out with a grin on my face, and placed my order a couple of days later. I never regretted it for a moment - it was always a fun car to drive.

If a car makes you smile, then go for it.

Thanks Colin. You are right!

Have not smiled like that driving a car in a while. The smile eventually turned into a laugh. I had been having a pretty crappy day before I took the test drive and that little Italian changed my day!

Its a FIAT panda, with a pretty face. No seriously, its a panda with a different body. Not sure what resale is like, my wifes panda has no resale at all, but what a lekker car to drive.

Granted its a Panda. Doesn't change how fun it was. Pretty well specced too!

Not worried about re-sale value, I know she will not let go of the car easily. And if she does its just one of those things. Happy wife happy life :D

My father drives a limited edition in matte black, nice looking car. Very easy and fun to drive but I find the turning circle is very wide for the size of the car.

I sold them and had them as company cars from mid 2012 until I left in August last year - great little cars - perfect for city work - bloody light on fuel and a dream to park.

The only time I didn't like them was when I was given the base Pop to drive for 4 months , and I live 50 km's from the dealership and give two guys a lift to work and back - that was not fun, but I definitely saved on petrol in that time! :p

Just to clarify, 45 of those km are on the freeway, and although she would cruise quite happily at 120 with three adults, she was a bit of a handful in crosswinds and rain - but then I have also been spoiled by my Subaru company cars! ;)

7 airbags, 5 star NCAP, 3 year/ 100 000 Full Maintenance is standard, as is a great sound system with Bluetooth and USB - even Climate control on the up spec 1.4!

Oh, and I see that people were saying that you should get a Twin Air - unfortunately not available in SA.

Your wife has made a good choice - go for it! :D

Thanks for that Fazda. I am actually very confident in this little Italian, so much so we are actually going to sign papers today.

Rosso red 1.4 Lounge with panoramic glass roof, 6 speed manual with red dash and white fabric seats (she did not want leather)

Excellent!

You won't be disappointed! :D

Just a quick one on servicing - service intervals are 30 000 km OR two years, whichever comes first - a weird one, but people get very confused about it.

If you are buying from Chatz they will know about it, the rest of the guys are still learning! :)

That's pretty cool, such a small car and such large service intervals.

My wife is extremely happy! Must admit, I am pretty excited too!

Yes, just remember to clarify that with the sales person, as some of them are pretty clueless. If they don't know today, ask them to check with the service department before you pick the car up.
