I was wondering if anyone has experience with fiber in Camps Bay. Who would you recommend as a provider?

Depends what section you're in, friend has OpenServe in the upper area of Bakoven, lower one I think is covered by MTN.

Personally, I went with using Afrihost for install with their 25GB capped account + 100Mbps and using a Vox 300GB capped account for data. You can use any ADSL provider on OpenServe, all capped accounts work on both and should give you the full speed. Uncapped will just be limited to the speed you pay for (in terms of the package).

Thanks. Openserv is in my area as is Mtn. Telkom seems to want a 24 month contract!

OpenServe is Telkom, they just split a couple of years ago due to some regulations. Telkom ISP gets no preferential treatment, so don't worry about that.

You can get contracts or go month to month, I just went with the Afrihost one due to the install fees price difference, that's why the tiny capped account.

I have both MTN and Openserve available to me.

I am direct with MTN as was rolled out before Openserve.

I would say currently best option would be MTN via cool ideas:

I would get that if I was changing

+1 if you have the MTN option, rather go with them just due to the cost difference. Your experience should be about the same with either last mile provider.

@PBCool could you make a recommendation as well? He's the CoolIdeas rep.

Yeah and month to month, plus same upload speed as download.

I am on 50Mbps line and never have any issues with 4K Youtube or Netflix, etc.
Streams like a dream.

If you have more than one person streaming 4K though I would suggest 100Mbps line.

50Mbps should still be fine for 2, 4k Netflix is 15Mbps with advised 25Mbps just in case. Just in case OP wants to save a bit.
