Hi there,

I really hope you can assist. I've tried phoning, the web Live Chat (which is pretty darn useless) and Twitter - no luck.

My mom has been stuck with a faulty fibre line for the past 2 weeks. Between her and I, we have managed to get very little assistance or clarity from the Afrihost team about what is being done to resolve this. My mom was even asked the hated question of "have you tried switching it off and back on again?" Gawd!

There is clearly an issue with the Openserve line and all it would take is to send someone from Openserve to the location to have a look. Has this happened in the past 14 days? No. Are we somewhat peeved at this stage? Yes.

Please, could you assist me in getting somewhere beyond the "we are addressing this issue" or "we have escalated the matter"? Could you provide me with concrete info on WHAT is actually currently being done. Has Openserve been contacted? If not, why not? If they have been contacted, what's the hold-up?

We've been happy Afrihost customers for years, so to now be hit by such deplorable, we-don't-give-a-sh... attitude is not cool and very disheartening.

Nature of the problem: My mom's fibre router has been showing a blinking red light for two weeks. I personally have tried resetting the router on my side, to no avail. The guys at Afrihost reset it as well - still the red light of doom. Following these steps, I haven't had any feedback of much worth on what the issue is and what is being done to address this.

I hope you can assist.

Is it the LOS light that is blinking? If so then there is a break in your Mom's fibre line somewhere which OpenServe will need to sort out, good luck!

:( That's a really disappointing experience to have with a Fibre connection. I really am sorry about that. I want to find out what's going on here. Can you please PM me your Mom's account details so that I can get right on this.

Yup, this is what I've been telling the guys at Afrhihost for the past two weeks. And they keep promising to "escalate the matter"... Thanks for the response!

Sounds about right for Afrihost support... Given the number of complaints here, I would suggest you cut your losses and move to an ISP that actually has customer support

:( It definitely looks like an issue on the Fibre line, I've escalated this to Openserve and they are going to dispatch the tech as quickly as possible.
