Fibre growth and data centres

More good news... :)

And I thought it was "only bad news on radio Africa these days"...

Now, if only we heard the WUGS say "Hey, all the WUGS in SA joined forces to create an "Inter-WUG Club", which will charge a small token membership fee, in order to now offer international access to all WUG members, for free, which means we skip the red tape..."

Would be a good time for that as they would then buy on seacom(without having any saix holding back prices).

1 thing that i am confused about is this, they want data centre's to be a big growth sector yet pricing is still high for international. Are we gonna see another eskom situation where consumers pay premium while others(in this case international host buyers + call centres) pay next to nothing?

+1.

I'm going to join the PTA wug sometime soon (hopefully this week) and will only start looking into what it's all about when I'm on. This would be nice though.

"Currently all existing data centres are in Mid Rand and Centurion where there are mounting infrastructure issues"

Where, pray tell, are the data centers in Centurion? As far as I know, there is only one data center in Centurion and that's the Telkom one. And, although impressive, they charge four times as much as any other player in the same space.

I'd love to hear of other data centers in Centurion...

Midrand and Centurion... ;)

Vodacom Business' flagship datacenter is near Vodaworld in Midrand. Neotel recently launched their new flagship datacenter.... in Midrand. And I seem to recall the one of BCX's biggest datacenters is also in Midrand :D
