OK so your body coporate has been given the green light to install fibre in the complex Vumatel install fibre My question is if in my apartment I want to change from Vumatel to Open serve Is this possible? Do I need a new and seperate fibre installation or can the existing fibre connection in my flat be re routed to Openserve

Hi

So vumatel is just the Fiber Provider

You can still use Openserve as an ISP or anyone but it is unlikely to get openserve as the infrastructure provider as once vumatel has installed there is no incentive to have openserve install

I know you have get telkom/openserve as an ISP on vumatel but Honestly I would steer clear of Telkom entirely if at all possible

Remember Vumatel pays to have that fiber installed at no cost to you. So they wont let you move it to telkom unless you pay the cost of that installation which is really expensive and attempting to do so will only be more effort than its worth.

Vuma installed in our complex and then Openserve came knocking so we let them install also.

As mentioned above, I would not touch anything Openserve/Telkom

With Vuma you can use almost any ISP incl Telkom
Openserve isnt an ISP. They are a NOP like VUMA

If Vuma have installed fibre to your building then that fibre probably belongs to them
The network from the Vuma node to your apartment may or may not belong to Vuma

If your body corp owns the network then they could add an openserve node

If Vuma own the network then the answer is No

BUT - Depending on the age of the building it is likely there are Telkom ducts in the building (to carry the copper)
Telkom would be entitled to use those ducts for fibre

SO - The question is - Would Openserve do it? If they have to go to a lot of cost to serve you only then probably NO... If they can get more then YES

BUT it is likely the Body Corp would make it hard for them... but couldnt stop them
