I am also interested in finding out. I live in Kenridge and I know there is a fibre optic ring that goes past the BP garage. Last time I researched this most companies were willing to provide fibre to my street if I signed up 8 - 10 people.
I doubt that anyone is interested in taking fibre to homes even if you sign up an entire street. That is what is advertised, but they will only consider office buildings and apartments. Then if we're lucky, cover the residential area by 2020.
Right now Protea Valley is covered and it's a class-based system. Doesn't matter whether their VDSL was running fine while other areas have decaying copper. Guessing what the class hierarchy is, it should be Van Riebeeckshof then Welgemoed then Kenridge then De bron then my small bottomfeeder corner if they don't forget about it.
We have fibre in Oude Westhof, which isn't that far off from Kenridge, maybe your next on the list. I believe they busy at van Riebeeckshof and Welgemoed now.
