Fibre in Ramsgate

This whole fibre thing is starting to confuuse me, I am trying to get feedback regarding when installs will start but Frogfoot tells me installs only start once the area is live but yet some people have been getting home installs before going live while still in the work in progress phase.

@AfriNatic can you perhaps shed some light here on how this works as I am totally confused.

I thought the whole idea of pre ordering was to get things done quicker.

Some ISP's install shortly before areas go live and others prefer to wait until areas are live.

Ask Afrihost to hook you up and get it fitted so long. That's what they did for me.

Mine's in but the only green light is the power light. Waiting for them to light up Tweni monthend.

Had an electrician here and asked them if they are willing to run a LAN cable through the roof for me from bedroom install point to lounge and they said yeah no problem so I'll get that done next week. That at least takes care of the stupid install point for me

Seems to be that is what isp's are doing, I unfortunately did not order with Afrihost but I am more than willing to place an order with them if @AfriNatic can advise me that installation and router delivery can take place before the live date so I can be ready.
I saw Link Connect isp seems to also be hopefull that areas will be live earlier than expected.

FrogFoot usually only progress orders for install once the area is live. I asked a service manager that assist us with orders to progress some pre orders for install so long and that is why some of our clients got installed so long.

What would be the possibility if I order to progress my order? I promise some fizzers ;)

It might be possible but there could also be an issue since your current ISP already loaded an order? that order need to be terminated first or our order will be on hold for a duplicate order.

Already on it :) will let you know once I have received confirmation that it has been cancelled.

@AfriNatic I placed an order with you guys a while ago in Uvongo and called you guys to arrange an installation in the meantime, without luck. Are you able to help?

Been moved another month to 30 November, so frustrating.
Really?

Well, I don't think this rain is helping matters much I saw them working under nets here in Tweni a week ago but its been raining 2 weeks straight now I don't even know wtf is going on with the weather at this point.

Oh well all we can do is wait, getting my router delivered today from Afrihost and just wiating on the contractor to call to install.

After that I can only wait for it to go live but will have everything sorted out to be ready at least.

Install completed yesterday. They were here from 8:30 to 13:30. Asked when it would go live. Installer said he thinks only end of November.

Unfortunately we got moved again another month further, wow install took some time.

Out of curiosity are you just able to show them where you would prefer the router and if they have a issue they will advise you or how does it work.

I was able to show them where I wanted the install and told them how I wanted the cable to run. They followed my instruction. Anything over 30m incurred a charge of R75 per meter. Distance was 34m so cost me an extra R300.

The cable is not allowed to hang i.e. like telephone cable.
