Yeah the problem is they laid their cables 20cm below ground (some parts even visible).

Imagine for a moment how **** your work has to be for a corrupt and useless municipality to chase you away 3 times.
Lol, yeah their fibre cable is lying on the side walk close to the waffle house here in ramsgate

Please note. There is an additional impact due to an extended power outage in Port Shepstone.

Maintenance technician en-route from Durban with a generator.

Ok , I’m a teeny bit worried that frogfoot needs a generator , thought the would be able to cope with load shedding

Good day, Rayne. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Kindly send your details to [email protected], so that we can urgently investigate the matter and assist further.

If you are afraid speed and consistency you sign up with frogfoot. Oh and yes they don't show any outages on their side

Morning.
Have the services been restored?
Yes, indeed it was up and running when I woke up this morning, thanks.

@Frogfoot Fibre sorry, I went to bed after my post last night. Its working again now.

As for your earlier request to email you can simply read through this thread when you have some time on hand for a better understanding of our grievances. We've mentioned, linked and discussed things here since trenching began.

In essence bad workmanship from your trenchers you hired off the street means our new fibre network has been gutted and patched so many times already in only a year that it is now viewed as unreliable so here we are today, sitting with multiple down times a week, people moving to other providers and those still without other providers already making plans for the move once they become available.

You guys had a massive opportunity here in the South Coast and you blew it due to shoddy groundwork by unqualified, unemployed people recruited via whatsapp and posters, lack of oversight during groundwork and lack of planning. Infrastructure in the South Coast is old and UGU has thousands of water breaks every single month. Laying your fibre cables right on top of old water cables was not a good idea. It was a maintenance nightmare waiting to happen.

Hey everyone.

If you guys are having issues on the openserve network like me.
Im in Trafalgar South Coast with Afrihost/Openserve 250meg/125meg line.

Since the 10.12.2022 December been getting slow speeds/high ping/packet loss mainly from 18H00 to 23H00 or longer.
From 170-185 ping normally to 240-250 london/paris servers.

But these last 2 days its been throughout the day and night.

Please log faults for congestion so that openserve will most likely do something thanks.
My logged fault is still open.

Fews tests below.

@AfriNatic is aware, feeling it in Uvongo as well.

@ronnie_94 Yes my fault is logged through him aswell and sad to hear that we both in this mess.

But the more people know and log faults the higher chances of openserve actually doing something due prior experiences with them lol.

The fault is still open for investigation and there is no feedback yet. We have requested feedback from Openserve but haven't received feedback yet. The network freeze and a bunch of public holidays have slowed this fault right down. Congestion faults do not get the same priority as network outages for example.
