Fibre in Ramsgate

Ok hang on to your horses guys now its looking way better.

The network spikes to 95% and 99% when testing CPU highest I saw was 36% something I was a bit slow on screenshots but here you go - 3x tests and the last one is during.
Did the fibre continue working through loadshedding?

Unfortunately it looks like the new OLT's don't have backup power yet.

Ok will keep the Telkom LTE for load shedding backup. Thanks

No it's off during loadshedding but we all have cell contracts so I don't care there's data to keep us busy.

Performing well but I have ridiculously slow upload speed on PSN (15-30mb) whilst downloads are acceptable.

I will need this looked at. @AfriNatic are you guys limiting PSN upload speed?

What does one upload on PSN?

That's irrelevant. What does that have to do with my enquiry?

I am paying for 1000|1000 fibre and frankly wonky LTE gave me better upload speed on PSN.
Nothing, I'm just curious. If it offends you that much then forget I ever asked.

Go be a smart ass somewhere else.

Mate's pulling almost 900|900 at another ISP and I cant break 30 in roughly 10 tests over 2 days.

I want to know why.

Look, I don't know what your problem is with me, I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything. This is the first I've ever heard of uploading on a playstation and always willing to learn something new. I'm used to downloading games and updates, I'm not sure what does one upload except in game data but that is more ping than speed as one doesn't move a lot of data during gaming and that's why I asked.

All good. Lets put that behind us.

Upload isn't that important but online data goes both ways.

I won't actually mind a slower upload but 1000>15 is absolutely not what I was expecting.

Hi,

We don't limit any traffic to any services on Pure Fibre. PSN has their network of CDNs and we don't have much control over which CDNs get used and the speed of those. With 1Gbps one is likely to notice more issues overall vs a much slower line.

I would assume that uploading to PSN will be single threaded tcp connections so it might be just the distance that is an issue.

You can try local uploads vs international uploads on like google or maybe telegram to see what the upload performance is like.

Try switching between wired and wifi connection to see if there is any issues with speeds.

Hi.

I tested all connections on all devices and everything is working 100% (speedtest dl+ul both over 900)

The only issue I have so far is this one. Well, that and the short WiFi range of the AX3 router which I'll need to replace with something else (looking at the Archer) but that's not major and a story for another thread.

I just cannot get a good upload speed on PSN and I tried a lot. There is a problem somewhere and if not on your side then with Frogfoot.

Hosting, streaming, screen sharing and video sharing should not be crippled at this line speed.

Depending on where the servers are located there is limits when it comes to throughput to and from a single tcp connection to high latency destinations. If the server is located in the US it will be difficult to get good quality screen sharing going even on a 1Gbps connection since latency would be an issue.

I screen shared with buddies a number of times on Telkom LTE since I got a PS5 last December.

All I know is mate with Axxess 1Gb is not having these issues.

Extremely slow right now. I cant even play a YouTube vid or sign into PSN.

Yet the Speedtest app says everything is great.

@AfriNatic know of any issues down here on the South Coast Umtentweni/Sea Park/Port Shepstone? I'm not seeing anything on FF notices.

@AfriNatic

Well the CT thread's a mess the PE thread's a mess should have known this was going to be the case.
