I recently ordered a fibre line from Web Africa.
Telkom came by to install the line a week ago, when Telkom left the line wasn't working (LOS light keeps flashing red), the tech told me it's because the line is not connected at the exchange, which I didn't understand as there are 4 other people in the complex who have working fibre lines, he said he had to pass it to a different department but that it would be fixed within a day, needles to say it wasn't.
I followed up with Web Africa, who in turn followed up with Telkom (very pleased with Web Africa's client service and the way they handled everything so far), a week later another tech showed up, he was busy for about 2 hours testing the fibre line. Again he left without the line working, and told me exact same thing....the line isn't connected at the exchange, he told me the guy who can fix the issue is busy at a different house, but he would fix it that same day.
Long story short the line is still not working. Clearly the Telkom tech guys thinks it's a problem that is easily fixed but it seems that's not the case. Can anyone in the know explain to me what actually needs to happen? Is it a complicated process to connect the line to the exchange? Does it really take a day or two or does it take weeks or months? Any advice in general?
