Hi,

Does anyone know if moving houses counts as a 'cancellation' of a contract when signed up for fibre?

My question relates to a situation where we have held back from getting fibre installed due to us possibly moving house soon. Free connection fees offered by ISPs are repayable if you cancel your contract within 6 months or 12 months (depending on the ISP).

SO I want to know if I can just go ahead and simply ask them to transfer to my next address (provided it's in a fibre area)

If you transfer the line into the next persons name then it should be fine. Otherwise you will be liable for the cancellation cost when moving out if the new owner doesnt wanna take it up from you. I do know that afrihost has their contract for 18 months(Pro rata payback of R4k). They wont transfer it to a new address though unless you know someone very special
