Stop it ;).You are not helping us by teasing us with that speed tests, you are making me cry when I am at work(I only have a 2meg line, and cannot upgrade till you are finished with our fibre), and now my work colleagues are teasing me. Love those speeds though ;).
 
Can you post a traceroute to a server based in london, would love to see how low the latency is and how short the number of hops the traceroute takes.

I do have access to a remote machine for testing, but it is an old laptop with a 72mbit wifi adapter. Would you like to see tests (speedtest.net / Steam downloads / whatever else you like) from that PC? It would be equivalent to our Gigabit 100 package, but capped to 72mbit due to the wifi.

that would be awesome.. some real world tests would be nice. a speedtest.. and downrate on a torrent perhaps.

we all know speedtests lie sometimes lol. I've experienced it myself. my speedtest shows full 4mb but downloads pew pew along at 150kbps

The ISPs all "unblock" speed test and related
sites to showboat their "performance" ... it's usually a blatant lie to sucker the consumer into their grasp

That's coming down at 42mbit.

Also, if you look at the Steam download from my earlier post, you'll see DOTA 2 downloading at 74mbit.

Not too bad, considering the wonky wifi :p

Agreed. I saw all the screenshots. not bad at all. now what's on everyone's minds(assumption) how does the local gigabit portion perform..considering that the older laptop has a 10/100 NIC we can rule that one out. I believe the steam servers in either joburg or cpt should clock 1gbps since they are local.(just set it as the location in steam settings)
 
Sadly that is voice only @Swa. But if it could handle data it woul probably beat telkom.

I happened to stumble upon fibre and what it has to offer, I wasnt fortunate enough to see the 4k demonstration (where was this). Im a platform gamer, a streamer (in not out) and a downloader, FIBRE seems to be perfect for my needs, hopefully this allows a goal of being a twitch or youtube streamer realised. I've indicated an interest in the 20 gigabit line package. Currently I have a 10mb adsl package with Mweb (actually telkom). Its an uncapped Adsl plan, but with a throttle ceiling of 250gb and i pay R899 with line rental. 10mb/s speed paid for but it syncs at 5.6mb dl and less than 1mb/s ul if im lucky, and in noordrand/x22 because of its distance to the exchange (next to Secunda High school), my prefered area speed is 2mb/s if im the only user in the area, so i persisted in forcing the exchange to kick out as much mb speed as possible with an telkom technician telling me that the SID was failing every 15 seconds more than 200 times a day. I pleaded for an improvement from both service providers and they said they pulling a line from Standerton.....

123net is actually a God send to an area that has the second highest bandwidth usage in Mpumalanga, 2nd only to Nelspruit, If telkom or mweb or afrihost or whoever dont look after their clientele. Then they are responsible for pushing us towards 123net and for that to date it seems we need to thank them for that
