I agree. I know people are excited and Impatient.
but good grief control yourselves. Once an investment has been made things will happen. The more you spur an already tired horse the more likely you are to kill it in the end.
123Net has been kind enough to actually invest in our little town. I don't see the need to be that guy kicking the dog after the dog chased an intruder from your property. catch my drift.. chill out.

Omg I have been warned by the mods for calling people retards, so I will not, but I am feeling very tempted right now... Om first off, no one expects them to install the fibre the minute that a contract is signed. Secondly read the forum posts before you comment.
There is questions that has not been answered yet. The 123net rep did tell us that the questions about the contracts will be answered as soon as Kalin can get some time in his very busy schedule, and we all know he is busy so we wait patiently. There is other questions that has been asked before the contracts were sent out that still goes un answered.
Please be up to date before making silly posts about things you are not aware of. Thanks.

Ok, well firstly, calm down.
Secondly, not sure if you misread what I said. I did not say anything in response to you personally nor was my comment directed at you in any way. I was speaking generally. I was simply saying that installing fibre in an area by a small company like 123Net takes time, much longer than a service provider who already has infrastructure in place. For ADSL (if you have a phone line), all you would have to do is sign a contract. This is not the case with 123Net, not yet anyway.
Thirdly, I've been following this thread from the start. So I've read almost all the comments, probably skipped a few here and there though. I read the contract concerns and if it were something I had to sign I would want answers as well.
Again, not sure why you think my comment was directed at you or was about the clauses in the contracts.

Alex, I'm with you on this; but with respect I have to disagree as well. Really there is 2 sides to the coin.
Fundamentally nothing is more important than the customer, top priority. I haven't signed a contract yet, although I really want to. I am just more risk averse. Consistency breeds trust, I don't like 180's on what has been conveyed by 123net.
I definitely view Kalin as a stand up guy. Unfortunately, all things aren't under his control. Investors could decide to back out. The municipality could cause a prolonged halt in progress with delayed approval of wayleaves. This would impact the contract. 123net wants to start doing installations at the customer's house first since the delay in approval of wayleaves. I am no expert; but I foresee problems arising from this. It is a big project and understandably mistakes will be made.
I get the workings behind the scenes are important and ultimately benefit the customer but getting the contracts in will be beneficial for everyone. It will optimize their work behind the scenes. It will be viewed favorably by the investors. It will gain trust from the customer and attract more customers. Put the customer 1st.
I just don't want to get burned. Feel free to correct me on anything I said.
123net, I do commend you on the work that you are doing. It is appreciated.
I agree with you on this. There's no guarantee that it will happen soon so to do things from the wrong end is bad imho. I won't sign or pay anything till there's a guarantee that I will be connected when I do. I know some here see this as being Secunda that don't have any other choices so they can wait indefinitely but really, with the interest displayed you can get any other provider on board if you wanted.
I would like to see 123net resolve these issues. I believe Secunda will see results from them sooner than from another company. For the most part 123net already have the ground work in place... I doubt there is another company with a similar value for price proposition to what 123net is proposing.

OT I know, but no it doesn't.
You can contract without any witnesses, and it can be verbal. Of course if there is a dispute later then proving T's & c's becomes more difficult which is why most written contracts ask for those. Not required though(except for a few cases - sale of immovable property must be written and a few others)

Imagine the risk 123NET would expose itself to by investing in infrastructure on verbal contracts. Even with no witnesses its going to be tough for 123NET to enforce the contract. Its just a measure to limit the risk they are exposed to considering all communication is done through email. For the serious subscribers this should be a no brainer to sign.

If you have witnesses sign you also have to get their details as a signature isn't going to hold up in court. Wills require 2 witnesses by law. These witnesses don't ever have to testify however as it's just a formality to make it legal.

Digging has been slightly delayed due to the municipality dragging their heels with necessary wayleaves, but our team is constantly on their case, making it happen as soon as possible. We will not lose any time, however, because in the meantime we will be starting the house installations. You guys should expect a phone call during this week or next week to arrange appointments. We will be installing the network box in your house, and will run fibre out to the street, waiting for the trenching to reach you.
We will be sending another newsletter to all Secunda signups, with details of agreement proposals & contracts. A lot is happening this week! Just a little more patience guys, we're nearly there
I hope you dont have to deal with the "mayor"... she is so corrupt. You know she demanded that the new mall give her a shop for free. Seriously the truth.
And trying to get meetings arranged only ever realises if there are freebees to be had or were it can be made to look like something that has been donated for free was actually organised by the local government - for the "poepels" Amandla!
