Did you change or upgrade anything for the difference in results?

That's the thing bud, I haven't touched a thing!
One guy made the comment to me on stream last night that maybe, just MAYBE RSAWEB have finally done what they were supposed to do and sort the ROUTING out.

Well I am with Cool Ideas and if you look at my old results and my new ones I have had a huge improvement so maybe it's something on Twitchs side on how they management traffic.

As per usual, I've done more tests (from my RSAWEB account) today, from this morning's test was in the 95 range (for all Twitch servers) and now it's sitting (all servers) between 86 and 90 for quality.

It seems (on RSAWEB) Twitch has gone all to hell again, hardly ever servers (for me) are above 50 quality.

Can the FIBRE guys run tests and post results... maybe it's not only RSAWEB?

Mine also went downhill. Vumatel / Cool Ideas 100/100. Test around 18:00.

Thanks RSAWEB for replying!

Hi we have looked at the post and see this is impacting other service providers, it does seem to be connectivity internationally to twitch servers, as there is no local peering or CDN specific for direct connects in South Africa it will be difficult to improve the connectivity performance to twitch

I can't stream now!!!! ARG!!!!!!!

Where are you located and which operator, as we are doing some split routing at the moment to troubleshoot.

Vumatel in Fontainebleau.

Tracing route to Live-lhr.Twitch.TV [52.223.194.250]

Funny thing is, I can WATCH 1080p Source with not too much issues (I should mention this in the other thread). And this is from: video-edge-c67fd4.lhr03.hls.ttvnw.net so also London.

We are looking at the best ways to improve gamers experience on the network, we will take the discussion post to the senior engineer and see what can be done to improve the performance.

That's from RSAWEB - so I wonder, between all the ISP's who will sort this issue out first - I'm bias because I have faith in RSAWEB.

I've faith in CI. :p There has been good improvement with watching recently.

Ultimately it would be best if there were ingest servers in SA, a la YouTube. But, that (and a local Discord voice server) seems far off...

If the ISP's pushed it... it would happen... Keep in mind Streaming is "tiny" currently - but as fibre continues to roll out, more and more are going to do it and it would be in their best interest to jump on this bandwagon NOW already - why we must beg for this, I don't know. :(

Woohoo!

Our engineers have confirmed they are going to engage with Twitch to see if we can setup direct communication for issues like this, we await their response!

Let's make it happen RSAWEB! Come on!!!
This and a freaking local DISCORD server would be AMAAAZEBALLS :)

We have already engaged them directly without further response. So I don't see too much happening on that front. I also find that the inconsistencies aren't limited to an upstream or even when you have layer2 yourself to their peering point. I think it's more their network and content management to be honest, at this point.

True. I'm sure there are many ISPs that would gladly assist hosting here, but what incentive does Twitch and Discord have to launch servers here?

This is really a catch 22. It doesn't work well, so there won't be many streamers. Because there aren't enough streamers, they see no reason to make it work.

How long did SA fight to get local gaming servers?

Woohoo!

Well... Perhaps if they realise multiple ISPs trying to chat them up, they would wake up?
