I exist only in my own mind ...
So, in order to FICA something, one needs to send certified copies to the financial institution. In years gone by, one copied various documents, such as rates account, bank statement, SARS tax notification etc etc.

In these days of paper saving and electronic documents, how does one get a certified copy from a pdf attached to an email? Any form of rendering a pdf (or other electronic document), whether by display, print or copy produces something which is not the original document!

Just asking.

Print the document twice, once in color, once in black and white. Go to the police station and have them certify the black and white copy. Had to do that once with the municipal account which my father receives via e-mail.

I've never had this issue..

I just print the document, and give it to them, they've never ever questioned.

I have the same problem with lack of original docs. Phoned my bank for assistance and they said my spouse can come in with me (must bring ID book) and sign a standard bank affidavit, confirming that I live at said address.

I was sure that there was a thread about this exact issue on MyBB somewhere. I'm having the exact same issue now with trying to open a ABSA TFSA account. They require all documentation to be certified and the fact of the matter is that 3 out of the 4 docs that they require I received the originals digitally (lease agreement, bank statements and all SARS comms). Has anyone had any luck with this?

Funny enough I had this exact same thought and was thinking that it'd be the easiest - the cops wouldn't be any the wiser. Then simply scan the black and white version in.

I did this when I opened my ABSA TFSA last year.

I've been using the exact same certification "stamp" that was placed on an older document that was certified about 10 years ago.

I've scanned it and just copy it onto any document that needs certifying, save as pdf and email.

Never had any issues.

I do believe that's called fraud

o.O

You do realise that is illegal as hell? At a minimum its against oaths act and if its signed also forging signature/impersonation.

Sure it's fraud, literally no one cares that deals with FICA daily, and RICA for that matter.

For Fica I have my Certified ID in PDF and Certified Proof of Residence letter in PDF and I have a bank statement in PDF.
What am I missing here, seems straight forward, never had any issues.
