Hi there,

Recently got a 2016 Ford Fiesta Ecoboost Titanium (3000km) and just wanted to know if there's anything in particular I need to do to ensure the engine is kept in good nick? It's my first turbocharged car so not too clued up on it, like when starting do I let it idle for a shorter/longer period than a regular N/A (previous car needed a good 5mins to warm up), and when I'm parking do I let the turbo cool down for a few mins?

Also if any other Fiesta owners have any problems/positives about the car I would like to hear :D

Thanks!

Like I said below you can let it idle for a minute if you really want to, but nothing wrong with setting off gently and waiting for it to warm up on the gauge before hammering it.

Loose rule I use is temperate on the dial = revs. So 40 degrees = max 4000rpm, 50 = 5000 etc. But I apply this more to bikes.

As for cooling it down best way is to just stop hammering it the last 1km from home and take a easy cruise in and you can park and switch it off. If you did hammer it all the way to your door then let it idle for a minute before shutting off.

I think the American concept of warming up a car (where it stands idling for 15+ minutes in the driveway) should be clarified over the logical South African way of letting your car idle for a minute before setting off.

The latter isn't bad for it and can only be a good thing.

My neighbour warms his car up (Fuel injected) by revving it hard in neutral for about 5 minutes, I cringe everytime

Ja nee.

I have a daft neighbour who never rides his bike but starts it for 5 minites. Moves it around (presumably to wash) then hour or two later starts it again and moves it back.

The carbon build up must be insane.

Thanks chickenbeef!

Can't really hammer it during the week as traffic is a pain, but I need to remember that on weekends:D Thanks Sauronza!

Never understood people who floor it to warm up, I can understand revving it but keeping it lower than 2000RPM.

Thanks guys really appreciate it! So it's similar to what my parents do with the Beemer, key is not to keep it idling for more than like 2mins  Can't wait till it gets delivered

Did you get the manual or powershift automatic?

Manual, reason being is because our previous car was an auto that broke 2x and had cost us a small fortune to repair.

95 Fuel only. (preferably Sasol)

Let the engine idle before driving. (to get oil circulating)

Once the temperature is at the max ~90's then you can hammer it.

Yo

I recently just acquired this exact same model :) Took for a little drive into Malaysia, drove beautifully the whole way (+-500km). Love this little thing, for a semi-entry level car it comes with all the bells and whistles you need.

One thing with regards to fuel, Rickster you say 95 only, will any be damage be done say i have half a tank of 95 and then top up with 97/98, Only like once every 2 months or so?

I think if I remember correctly the manual says anything above and including 95, can double check.

You're going to have fun, those Fiesta EcoBoosts are very nippy!
Hahaha yeah I cannot wait!! Test drove a friend's and flip can it move. Read through your thread on your Clio and was tempted to get one. Any specific reason why you went with the Renault?

Thanks! Is it just me or does Sasol last marginally longer than Engen/BP?

:D Nice! What colour is yours? Do the Mauritius versions come with the styling kit and leather? My mother's Beemer doesnt even have folding mirrors that's how well specced these cars are.

Thanks man, hardly see anything higher than 95 unleaded in my area so I should be perfect.
