Fiesta Ecoboost

Yo

I recently just acquired this exact same model :) Took for a little drive into Malaysia, drove beautifully the whole way (+-500km). Love this little thing, for a semi-entry level car it comes with all the bells and whistles you need.

One thing with regards to fuel, Rickster you say 95 only, will any be damage be done say i have half a tank of 95 and then top up with 97/98, Only like once every 2 months or so?

Anything higher than 95 RON should be fine. The reason why you have to fill a forced-induction car up with higher octane fuels, is due to the additional air you get due to the turbocharger/supercharger compressing the air before it enters the cylinder (= more air per stroke, over an NA engine), where it gets compressed even further due to the movement of the piston. Compress the air-fuel mixture enough and it will auto-detonate. Higher octane fuels can sustain more compression before they detonate. The effect of a premature detonation is known as knocking or pinging, and can damage an engine if not brought under control.

Hahaha yeah I cannot wait!! Test drove a friend's and flip can it move. Read through your thread on your Clio and was tempted to get one. Any specific reason why you went with the Renault?

Thanks! Is it just me or does Sasol last marginally longer than Engen/BP?

:D Nice! What colour is yours? Do the Mauritius versions come with the styling kit and leather? My mother's Beemer doesnt even have folding mirrors that's how well specced these cars are.

Thanks man, hardly see anything higher than 95 unleaded in my area so I should be perfect.
A few reasons for the Clio is I preferred the overall:
1. "newer" tech in the car e.g. The 7inch infotainment display, built-in SatNav, Keyless entry, auto lights and auto whipers
2. I love the look of it in the spec I went with, it just sticks out so well.
3. As much as I love power, I have to like the overall car, and that's what I got with the Clio vs. the alternatives.

I had been looking at a used Fiesta EcoBoost Titanium, but it cost quite a bit more and I felt it looked a bit dated at this point. That is my only problem with the current Fiesta, the look and interior, they were great back in 2009 when it 1st arrived, a few friends, family and colleagues have them, but I am sort of "over" their look now, but that EcoBoost motor is awesome.

98? Damn Daniel...

Where do you li.... Oh.

Rather dont mix and match, if you can afford 97/98 then fill it with that, otherwise 95.

95 Fuel only. (preferably Sasol)

Let the engine idle before driving. (to get oil circulating)

+1

Sasol 95 always. Don't get that wrong. And service
I have a 1.6 2010 fiesta titanium, no turbo, just 95 octane, service every 20000km, usually switch on the car every morning for like 2 minutes idling, drive it sparingly for a good 5-10km depending on weather, then hammer it!

Dan thing keeps up with my friends fiesta st for a good 5 seconds but then the fiesta st is turbocharged.

Well my one is actually in Singapore. It's a beautiful black one :) They only sell the titanium models with ALL the extras: faux leather seats, cruise control, puddle lights, red interior mood lighting, folding mirrors, mags, Ford bluetooth Sync, Automatic (love the double clutch, no loss of power at all), LED lights.

The dealerships in SG are quite amazing (even though cars are stupidly expensive) but they threw in lekker little extras, rear view camera (which uses the garmin as the screen), solar film (not smash n grab :P), OctoSaver dashboard camera, top of the range Garmin Nuvi, standard 3 year free servicing, 5 year factory warranty.

All in all i couldn't be happier. The car goes like a dream, has all the extras.
I was seriously surprised by thislittle motor, going 110 - needing to overtake, put my foot down and i'm at 140 in seconds... for a little 1 ltr, ya awesome stuff.

On the fuel, well topped with 97 in malaysia cause its cheaper than 95 in singapore ;) All Shell V-Power... don't trust petronas there, heard some iffy things. R7.30 per liter of 97 :D

So in other words you could have afforded to buy the 'stang instead? ;)

Where I stay I have a gate with a lock on and no gate motor, so my morning routine usually involves me unlocking and starting the car, walking up to the gate to unlock it, back down to the car where I quickly walk around and check that all my tyres are inflated and that there aren't any oil leaks. After that routine I will get in and start driving it, but I do baby it a bit and don't go over 2500rpm until the heat gauge reaches operating temperature which takes 1.2km in 20*C weather. I have it down to an art :D

I then give it another 3km for the gearbox oil to reach proper temp before I allow myself to rev it above 4000rpm. This is on my Hyundai i30 1.6 manual. No turbo's or anything fancy.

On my bike I normally start it and then endure the process of putting my jacket and helmet on, then the gloves and then only will I set off. Fortunately the KLR has a very small radiator and coolant bottle so it doesn't take too long to heat up. It reaches operating temperature in about 800 meters, and I can usually turn the enrichment circuit off after a minute. A bit longer if it's chilly outside

What? There's an oil pump for that. The quickest to get the oil warm and where it's supposed to be is to drive it. It will also heat up the exhaust system, catalytic converters, help with emissions, etc etc.

Just start the car and drive normally until the car is warm, before you drive it hard.

Ahh ok yeah the touchscreen is a big positive with the SatNav. I can understand that, as soon as I drove the 1.4 I loved the Fiesta and was set on it. Lol that's the reason I didnt really a Clio there are so many around in Durbs, especially at my campus, that it started looking too 'usual' hardly seen any Fiestas only a handful in Titanium spec. Also it was difficult to find a Clio with proper climate control, was keen on the new Blaze edition that was going on special think it was the facelifted ones with the new headlights. :D Hope you have many happy km's with your Clio!

That black colour looks quite good on the Fiesta haven't seen one like that yet. Just a difference with the style of alloys. Those are some very nice extras!! That is a lot of kit on a Fiesta, how is the quality on the dashcam thinking of getting one myself. Wish you all the best with your EcoBoost! :D

 (Excuse the angles the potato quality, my old man took the pics)

Why Sasol?

I asked the guy what petrol I should put in my car, and he said normal 93. I think it also has to do with the size of the engine and the compression ratio? Think compression ratio of 11 you should put 95, but lower (I think mine has got a ratio of 9 or something), then 93 is fine.

Thanks man :D

It's so weird, here in Jhb, I see countless Fiestas but in CPT in much like you in DBN I saw mostly Clio 4, then again CPT is "Little Europe", and they love their Clios.

She is a beauty! :D
Wishing you manu Happy KMs to man, you are going to have a ton of fun. :)

Sasol generally last a bit longer than the other brands (Shell/BP/Engen) also think it's a bit cleaner than the other brands?
