FIFA and 2010 trademarks

reading those stories i get the feeling that fifa has managed to trademark "2010" . i thought numbers and dates could not be trademarked?

example being when media24 tried to sue someone over the use of the number 24, i think i remember the case being thrown out (look here and here). i'm confused now, is fifa getting special treatment?

This is Fifa throwing their weight around, and so far they've come up against small fry who can't fight them properly....

Soon enough though they will come up against someone with the money and the will to show Fifa the door.

And where it the advantage of the world cup for the local man (you and I)? Okay it may have helped with Telecoms Infrastructure but for the normal everyday man in the street that is struggling to make ends meet, nothing is gonna change is it?
