FIFA scraps homegrown player rule

I'll bet it's down to the English League doing badly this year and introducing the 25 player limit + homegrown rule of their own. Oh yeah - and the financial constraint put down by UEFA.

The english one aren't the same as the one fifa wanted. The FA is the exact same model as the one used for the cl. Doesn't discriminate on where the player was born.

Fifa probaly finally figured out there proposed rule would be illegal under EU law and their attempts to get the EU to treat football differently from any other profesion failed.

Personally its great news. I have always been opposed to fifa's idea. I am fine with the uefa cl and the new fa rules since it encourages clubs to groom their own players but doesn't discrimate on where the player was born.

I know. However, I'm sure it did help...
