If you want to be against diving then you also have to be against how Anderson went down. That shove was not hard enough to send him tumbling like he did.
 
I will be supporting Argentina due to club loyalties.
France will still win this world cup for me.
 
I think Argentina is going to lose to England. The final is going to be France vs England where England will inevitably choke. England is good, but they don't seem to handle pressure well, and that is something the Argentines have been exposed to as well. I think Argentina vs England will be a twitchy game, perhaps with a lot of controversial events in the mix.

Then I could be wrong. I am in a prediction pool, and the person FAR in the lead has Spain as the champions. That person has incredible accuracy, and if said person is betting... yoh. The person talks sense in the applicable discussion board as well, so... knows the game.
 
This has been a weird WC for me. No team has outright looked like "the best in the world", or "guaranteed to win it". Every "major" team has struggled at times, with some not making it out of the round of 32 or 16 as was expected of them. Most open tournament I can remember.

That's the thing about football betting: it never takes into account the ref and VAR on the day, the mentality of the players, or my favourite: "the magic of the cup". You can do as much analysis as you want, but on final day something weird usually happens. It's why lower league underdogs often beat Premier League opposition. A lucky pen, an untimely injury to a star player - anything can happen in football.

Having said that, Spain is still a good shout, despite struggling in their previous two knockout matches against average opposition.

Watched it a few times now. I've been watching football for a very long time, and I think this is the first time I've seen a player carded for simulation outside of the penalty area. The whole rule was introduced to stop players trying to win penalties unfairly. He has literally nothing to gain by going down, apart from a free kick like 40 yards away from the 18-yard box.

Of course, the ref is then surrounded by Argentina players, who probably reminded him of his pretournament agreement with FIFA. 😎

If it was actually a thing, no team would ever finish a match with more than 2 players on the field. Literally every match has players going down for the slightest (or no) touches like there's a sniper on the roof.

Yes watched the game to the end. There was a reason the Norwegian manager went to speak to the ref at ht.
I tend not to take what commentators say as the gospel they tend to have subconscious bias or just not know all facts.

Yeah, some players noticed and the coaching team were talking to the refs on the side. Add in the disallowed goal for two players that wasn't involved and it was an easy win for Norway.

The Argentinian one was a lot fairer, the Swiss were the ones doing the majority of late tackles and Embolo kept trying to make claims of having being fouled when he clearly wasn't, when in return he was all over everyone. In the end he pushed it too far and he got called out for it.
