Fifty seven channels and nothing on…

What Mr Weidemann fails to see, together with most other people, is that the purpose of having 57 (or even more) channels is not to have something "on" but to be able to flip through 57 channels searching for something. IOW, the entertainment is not in what one watches but in pressing the button on the remote. That is the reason why SABC together with eTV are so boring, only 4 channels to flip though. A thousand channels with nothing on would be far more entertaining than 4 channels with nothing on. The medium is the message.

Nope... its more irritating!!

I would rather have 1 channel with nothing than know Im paying to flick through 100 channels with nothing.
 
What was quite funny was when ICASA chairman Paris Mashile said that the regulator aims to liberalise the sector and ensure broadcasting services are provided for a diverse range of communities in SA, failing to add that since the licences are for pay-TV, these services will only be provided as long as the diverse communities can afford to stump up enough cash to pay for them.

The aim, he said, is to “ensure broadcasting services are provided for a diverse range of communities in SA; promote empowerment of historically-disadvantaged persons and ensure broad-based black economic empowerment; address poverty alleviation; encourage economic growth and investment; develop programmes to address the dual economy; ensure job creation; liberalise the sector; ensure access and affordability of services; and guarantee a higher and wider customer satisfaction index.”

If Snuki & Dali ever get run over by the guavamental gravytrain, then Poison Ivy can always shift her Paris Mashile plant over to the SABC considering that Paris Mashile is clearly sufficiently braindead enough to spout the ANC's propaganda bs like he did in that 2nd paragraph above.

I feel sorry for the media that have to listen to such crap from Paris Mashile, perhaps journalists should consider a form of protest next time Paris Mashile froths at the mouth in public - my suggestion would be to all take your shoes off and pretend to be fast asleep and snoring loudly and to top it off ring each other's cellphones [disable voicemail first] but let them ring indefinitely since Paris Mashile has been known to not be around to take any calls - probably a side effect of being fast asleep on the job...
