File Sharing Problem

Hey,

I have an applications folder on my laptop which I access from many different pc's over the network. The trouble is, even though I can access the folders, several of the files are inaccessible. It's kinda random. Some I can run over the network, others I have to push over to the PC that I want to use them on.

Any idea what's happening? I've tried removing the share and re-sharing. Tried renaming the folder itself... Some of the files in there are just not accessible. They appear there, but the icon's never show, and when i try to run the files, I get told the file is not accessible.

How do I turn on the advanced sharing settings bit on XP again?

Explorer > Tools > folder options > view> simple file shareing
