Ok i have one pc connected to a billion 7300g router. is it possible for me to connect a laptop to the pc through the router? If so then how, both PC using vista please help.

Does the laptop support wifi?

If both can ping the router address then its the same as sharing over wired.

I tried doing this and failed dismally - couldnt even get my lappy to ping the pc, or vica versa. Now I have changed my OS on the lapy to Kubuntu so not even going to attempt it.

I can run a Linux OS, but can't connect a laptop to a pc - ironic...:o

some routers don't allow the ping through. I had a friend who had that problem but he could connect to the pc and also the laptop with wifi

Yes it does..
Little tutorials please..:D
Set router config to no encryption. Enable wifi on laptop. Search for wireless networks & connect. Then you've got a basic unsecured connection & everything is basically working.

Set router encryption to WPA-PSK and enter a passkey. Try connecting to the network again with passkey. If you have XP & it doesn't work then you need the wpa patch off the MS site (KB893357).

Once you can ping the router then its like a normal network.
