Hi all,

Let me start by saying I am a lazy man and that is why i need this program, basically I download all of my files to one folder, I manually move them to correct folder eg: dl>anime>anime_name same with movies and series. I have become a bit lazy and now my download folder is more than 800 files...
So I was hoping to get a program to do it for me, I would like a recommendation, as I don't want to install any file program, in fear of losing everything in my downloads folder...

1) You can use SickBeard to do it automatically for you as it downloads.

2) you can install Plex or XBMC and it will sort out the muddle.

3) You can use programs like The Renamer or TVRename to actually change the names (but not sort into folders).

Please tell us how you usually download? Torrents or Usenet?

I want a program that I can run once a week, after I've watched everything, to move everything the correct folder, I mainly use usenet for downloads, but the thing is, I run most of my downloads on the university internet and then simply paste them in my downloads folder.

I've never found anything that does that. Especially AFTER the fact. You just have to get into the habit of doing it yourself once a week or so.
In your Usenet program though you should enable the download to folder option and also extract to folder option.
That makes it a bit easier.

I prefer not to use Sickbeard for various reasons, so I also have to manually sort.
But I have it down to a good routine.

Sorting media can be tough if there's no standard to either your filenames or metadata.

My workflow involves: adding metadata & artwork, standardized renaming of files based on metadata, using metadata to move files into correct folders.

Filing/sorting and backups is a part of life if you download a lot, that's just how it is. :p

I make an effort to set apart some time at least once a week to do my sorting so that it doesn't pile up.

Look at:

-Your wardrobe
-Your desk
-Your PC Desktop

If they look a mess, then so will your files be a mess. Give up now. You're a disorganised person, get over it.
