I am using both filesonic and fileserve premium on a Mweb 4mb account. Speeds on Fileserve are good, often maxxing the line, but filesonic is really poor. Its usually at 40kb with jdownloader. Is it just being shaped to death? What is your experience? Thanks

It's definitely shaping. And now that you have let them know of a service that they missed it will get shaped now too.

I accept that as part of the Mweb experience (hah!) but this is true even in the wee small hrs of the morning. I thought the shaping is relaxed at this time. Oh well.....

I use filesonic and quite often it is shaped. Same with hotfile. But at times, i do get decent speeds.

Its definitely shaped. I use Filesonic and its faster on Internet Solutions & Fileserve drags. When i have a file on Fileserve, i switch to my iBurst which is waaay faster coz Filesonic drags on iBurst.

They definitely shape it and very randomly. And certain file hosting sites are shaped more than others. I download a lot of from all the major file hosting sites for free using jdownloader.

The clear trend is obvious shaping during office hours but some times the downloads will crawl at 2-3k past midnight. There has actually been times during office hours where it was not being shapped. Probably due to their dynamic shaping system depending on network load.

I know i've only have a 384k line but i don't get shaped ever using filesonic premium.

Filesonic seems to be the big player right now so they are definitely on the shaping radar. I noticed how speeds pick up the later it gets 'tho.
Hotfile is pretty quick but is anyone still hosting on their service? I haven't since the mass deletion a couple of months ago... Megaupload is also good.

Not with MWEB but Filesonic supports resuming while Fileserve not. Guess which one I use for really big files?

I also used both.

I hated Filesonic because most of my files did not complete the download when left unattended with a download manager.

Fileserve on the other hand performed as hoped and I cannot complain about them.

Maybe it was changed again. From their FAQ:

Can I resume broken downloads?

Yes, but only if you own a Premium account. Premium accounts support the use of download-accelerators which allow you to resume incomplete downloads. They even help you download faster through the use of segmented downloads. This means, you can download the same file with many streams, resulting in increased download-speeds

I find Filesonic behaves quite erratically whether I'm using a shaped uncapped or unshaped capped account!! Initially a file will start downloading at 100% line speed and gradually slow to around 60-70%. I also find the downloads slows towards the end to a trickle. Downloads stall frequently too (using Jdownloader where resuming is not a problem). All in all not a file sharing site I enjoy but definitely the one with the most material these days.

Their FAQ is wrong. You can def resume w/ jdownloader. [Unless they changed it in the last ~24 hrs] And it has been that way for months.

I have a file here right now that flatly refuses to resume with a fully updated jdownloader, so it seems like ymmv on this one.

Just checked too. Mine resume. Maybe it just doesn't like you. :p

Thats over CS b/w maybe that makes a difference. (unlikely)

Getting truly shtty speeds though. <5KB/s

Possibly, as we are on mweb here, and it sucks donkey doodahs.

Have you tried right clicking the stalled download, then click disable, then right click again and click enable, then right click again and select force download?
