Hi There

This might be a weird question....but please assist

I see Final Fantasy XII for PS2 is coming out soon and looks really great...
but i have never played final fantasy before

Do i need knowledge of the previous versions...does XII continue from the last version....

Don't wanna buy a game that I won't understand and therefor not enjoy

I am an avid Final Fantasy fan. Themes are carried through from one game to the next... but its not imperative that you have played previous Final Fantasy games.

Just note... that the PAL version is only being released next year march :<

i had ff x-II for 3yrs...cool game, but not as good as ff-x. ff-xII is complicated, and dumb in my opinion...but being a fan, can't really thrash it that much

XII and X-2 are different games ;)

The FF's are weird, each 'Number' is a totally different game with different characters etc, but they do occasionally make sequels, but they're attached to the original number (eh? ;))

For example There's FF7 and FF7 dirge of Cerebus, and X and X-2. simple ;)

FF games tend to have not much to do with each other although some themes do carry over. Play it, it rocks.

I'd suggest taking a look at FF7, 8 and perhaps 9 as well :D It's always good to get addicted to final fantasy.

people who use the word noob should come to menlyn on friday, im going to personaly hand out pk's.

:)

haha...whatever saffakanera

anyway...the reason why i was looking at XII is because it's battles are realtime.... the other final fantasy games are turn-based which i don't really like that much

I think that final fantasy x will be your best bet to learn or ff7If you can get it
Be prepared for 100 hours of game play literaly,My wife clocked that game under 90 hours,Yes women love that
Remember turn based action strad

I'm an avid player of the FF series. I recently asked a friend from overseas to bring for me a copy of FFXII when he would return and so he has.

FFXII is a break away from the traditional system of FF. Battles are realtime. This is fantastic and the only negative aspect would be that if you wanted to play the previous FF installments it would seem rather tedious.

Also the game is really tough. You'll find yourself maxing out your wits trying to advance in the game. It makes it really challenging, but for those who view a challenge as a frustration, fear not. Like most FF's, dynamic is always present. You could power your characters and enemies would be a cinch.

Initially the games rings a strong resonance to Star Wars. Yes, Star Wars but the game sets itself apart as it progresses.

IMO, this game is really worth the buy. The PAL version is only going to be released in March 2007. Look ofrward to it.

BTW, I don't have a modchip or a hack. I've got an old PS2 and it has a hardrive together with a hdd program. Check Defcon in Pretoria.

I have XII I like the new combat system, but I was very disappointed with the characters. The game feel to medieval to me and not Japanese/anime enough. Anyway if you are new to the FF series I would recommend FFX to me it is still the best one on the PS2. I also really liked FFX-2 but it was just not as good as FFX

FFXII lacks character depth IMO. The story is not as heartfelt as previous installments. But overall it's still an excellent game. BTW ATI where are you in the game?

Im in the Giza plains when its raining so still have loads still to do. Do you find the character accents a bit annoying? It makes me so angry when the speak lol

that fran chick has the weirdest bloody accent, makes me wanna chop off her liddle bunny ears and feed it to a Lich king yeah!:D

All final fantasies(except for X2) were way cool! Number 9 was a bit weird, what with that Quina frog eater chick, but the cinematic endings were always breathtaking, even in 7!

Number 8 i spent 2 hours completely zombified junctioning magic to characters strengths for the end boss Griever, never mind the islands closest to heaven and hell where i spent over 120 hours levelling all my guys to 99, or the two hidden gfs Eden and Doomtrain that i fought so meticulously ta get, man im rambling eisch...but im sure you guys would do the same if you were as completely absorbed in the FF series as i am- ive sacrificed thousands of hours of my soul to that universe and its all been well worth it (well my g.friend dont seem to think so, but shes just jealous:D )
