Libs, they dont want bad records on their books so just make a small arrangement with them. Its in their best interest to recover the money rather than blacklist you and lose the money.

I have made arrangements with them to pay R50 a month off.

Pfft, will wait until the contract's expired, and then I'll make plans to de-list the blacklisted phone.

And their lawyers'll get an earful should they phone to enquire about the account. I'm g@tvol of being screwed.

Black listed? What phone does she have? Usually those phone shops (non vodacom/mtn/cellc/virgin) have their own hardware to change the IMEI number on popular divices, once it's changed to another one, phone's no longer blacklisted. This will however void your warranty but if it's blacklisted I don't think that warranty matters.

Haha I was just thinking that - he signs a contract and then moans when he defaults and Vodacom takes steps to recover their revenue AS STATED IN THE CONTRACT.

What does it have to do with them that your salary hasn't been "revised" or that you're unemployed for that matter??

This is a typical result of someone overstreching themselves, on credit, which seems to be the way majority of people live in SA. The only thing Vodacom is to blame for in this case is extending the credit to this person. The NCA should take care of this in the future.

Make the sums.

Also, the free minutes - are these continuous minutes, or segmented minutes?

How old are you? Actually scrap that - you must be over 18 so it's irrelevant.

Do you get the meanining of a contract? If you had a problem with "free minutes" (laughable - you're paying for them) you should have raised it BEFORE SIGNING THE CONTRACT. Once you sign it, it is binding, and you indicate that you agree.

Did you read it?

The term free minutes has been gone for a number of years now, its currently referred to as included minutes.
The majority of packages are on per minute billing and as such will claim a full minutes worth of talktime even if you speak for 2 seconds.
If you add up the amount of un-used time due to this principal then the networks are making a fair deal out of it.

I'm sure they are, that's why they are in business. You can have the option of being on a per-second-billing on any contract AFAIK. If not, switch to a contract that can, or a provider that can.

Point is, once you SIGN the contract, you can whinge all you want but if you default, you're in the wrong, and vice versa. FWIW, I have managed to get a pro-rata from Telkom for every day my phone line was down - as per contract.

Oh, and the word you're looking for was principle.
