Finally secured my first DSLR!

I've been tempted more than a few times. Some shops have them for £220. But I still have a bunch of EF mount lenses, so there's little point. I'm saving for a 5DmkII :D
But you also have some non-EF glass still, correct? Which is perfect - flog it, you're going to have to anyway, and get the D40.

If it's is that good you might end up switching camps so let me know if you have anything worthwhile to sell ;) :D

Will do. :D

Must adventure away from Auto. Nodded off last night after I'd finished reading about Auto, so must read on ASAP.
If you're shooting in RAW then WB is the easiest thing in the world to adjust in post. Just read it off something white in the frame and that's that.

If you dont have something in the particular shot you're adjusting you can always meter off something white in another photo from the same shoot.

Still shooting in JPEG. Must still play around and get into RAW.

By post do you mean post-processing?

Thanks for tips.

Only the Sigma 10-20, which according to Big-Al *does* work on FF. I plan to find another Rebel body to try it on. 10mm rectilinear on full frame - yummie!

I like the 40D's output. I find it's metering to be more accurate than the D200/D300 (in Matrix). But that's it. It's a little on the tiny side for me. If I do buy an entry level DSLR, it will be a Canon, because aside from having glass for it, it will get passed on to my sis once I replace it - and she's a Canon shooter too.

Wanna buy a Sigma 10-20? ;)

Look back - I think Big-Al said it fit not worked. By all other accounts the vignetting is hectic.

No thanks - I've got the 16-35 f/2.8 after all ;)

the d40's exposure meter is not nearly has good as the d300's

I said in matrix mode. I got better results, consistently, from the D40. But I never tried any of the other modes. BTW, I don't thing the D200 is anywhere as good as the D300. I was not impressed with it in any way. But then - different strokes for different folks.

10mm on FF *IS* hectic. Anyway, he showed that it doesn't protrude deeper than Sigma's non-DC lenses, and the mount doesn't differ. So it should work. I l can live with vignetting.

Sorry but I still dont see this as working

You could use MyBb's own Photos section and upload one there. Or for higher res, use Flickr (:p) or www.xs.to and link us to it.
