They may not be 100% self-sufficient yet, but they certainly are doing something right. Last year I was reading an article discussing how the Israeli military service has had a positive effect on their youngsters being employable and innovative, esp. in the tech industries. Since this link http://smallbiztrends.com/2009/12/start-up-nation-business-lessons-from-israel.html does not load on my side, I cannot confirm if that is the article I was reading, but the point I was looking ref on was that Israel is the country with the most tech companies that have successfully achieved round-one financing with many also going on to round two. That then will help them on their way to becoming more self-reliant.

However, I have not seen this kind of innovation in the Palestinian communities, other than their war-related innovations (tunnelling under the check points to smuggle food and weapons; home-made improvised explosives etc.) and this indeed is sad. Surely good business and tech innovation is happening, but it's either not "news worthy" enough for the reporters; or there is bias; or there really is no such innovation ... I appeal to assassin to post references to Palestinian business and tech innovation (that I would gladly read) instead of refs to incite and yid-bash (which I take no interest in, ditto: the Muslim bashing holds no interest with me.)
 
Why is Israel so scared with Iran having nukes, when the only country to set off a nuke is america?
I mean india, pakistan, uk france etc got nukes?

SA was the first (and to my knowledge, the only) country that has voluntarily given up nuclear weapons capability. (Well done to the ANC government under Madiba for doing this.)


The largest ever nuke that went off was the Tsar Bomba by Russia (and here)

None of those countries are under the boot of a bunch mad mullahs. The argument of the U.S using nukes is totally irrelevant since it happened 60 years ago during a world war and it was justified given the circumstances.

If Iran was an open democratic state then they too could develop nukes.They wouldn't want them then though.

and what did S.A have to gain from keeping them? Politically it was a no brainier to get rid of them. Hardly worth the acclaim given.

gain: perceived safety (they won't nuke me because they know I can nuke them.)

I doubt politics had much to do with the decision, IMHO more like economics (where the F have all our knowledgeable staff gone? how the F can we afford to import brains to run this junk?), but that's just semantics :)

Well S.A has no enemies who'll attack us in the first place. Even if we did we had no means of delivering them except in the case of one of our northern neighbours attacking us. They are so backward as not to be a severe threat militarily anyway.

But you are right there were economic reasons. Still it was primarily political as far as I'm concerned.

Iran has said that Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth. The Israeli's probably figured they mean to do just that with their nukes :D
 
Political in the sense that the Nats made damn sure that they were 'disposed' of so that the ANC would not have that sort of status? Wasnt it an integral part of the negotiations?

I do believe that you are mistaken, the old Nats gave the weapons, before the ANC came into power, to gain support and assistance from the US. America did not want an unknown black organisation to have access to nukes.
