Financing for home alteration / improvement?

Seriously, ask your bank or any bank.

My cc is repo+5.5% ( that's 11.5% actual ), my overdraft is 15.5% , look into what you can get and personal loans are customized. That last one I had was around 17% but it really depends on your record.

If your car has also been settled you can try a car loan. Costs on vehicle finance are way lower than registering a bond and interest rates should be lower than a personal loan.

Do cash they said, it will be better they said...

Plan was to fix one big thing a year.

I saved enough for the improvements to be made, contractor f*cked us over again. Now I am also looking at taking out a loan/second mortgage to fix the sh*t he has left us with, as well as the remaining big ticket items.

Also going the DIY route as far as humanly possible, as I am starting to think that there is not a single decent contractor left in this world...

Having had a loan in place instead of cash wouldn’t have made any difference to your problems.

It’s not the cash’s fault.

It would have made a massive difference.. It would have made it worse!

I know, I was merely venting...

But now that I think about it, timing might have differed, resulting in different contractors.
