I see it is now available, trailer looks good!

Done & dusted.

I am such a sucker anything Tom Hanks (THanks) & he once again shines here. A post apocalyptic tale about a man, his dog and a robot. Friendship & trust is name of the game. Beautiful cinematography & visual effects.

I liked the setting a lot and the character progression of the robots were nicely done, but it didn't grip me all the way in the second half like most films of this archetype sadly.

I'd give it a light 7/10.

The new Tom Hanks film ‘Finch’ is Apple’s most popular film premiere to date

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Apple TV+ told Deadline that last weekend’s debut of the Tom Hanks movie ‘Finch’. As usual, it isn’t releasing firm numbers but the company said Finch drove the biggest opening weekend for Apple TV ever. The previous most popular Apple Original Films premiere was Tom Hanks’ submarine war movie ‘Greyhound’, released last year.

Apple has also reportedly seen strong audience numbers for its recent TV slate including Foundation, Invasion, The Morning Show season two and of course Ted Lasso season two.

Obviously, this all falls somewhat flat with no hard figures to back it up. Apple TV+ is believed to have between 20-40 million subscribers worldwide, but none of its content has really broken out into culture aside from the Emmy-winning and widely-popular comedy Ted Lasso.

However, a slow start was to be expected for an ‘all-originals’ service with no back catalog. Apple is currently approaching 100 original titles, and is expected to launch at least fifty more across 2022.

How does this film compare to Hugo? I am planning on watching it the weekend, and my kid is also interested in Dune so... Movie night.

I see there is quite a queue of A-grade scifi movies laying in wait, so happy to have people flex their creativity, again after two years of intellectual drought.

4/10

Boring. Predictable. Have watched it before. Zero effort. No story. Pointless. Dull.

Rather watch Chapie, I am Legend, iRobot, Wall.E.... Flip, even Robot Frank.

4 points for the dog who managed to sit, stay and growl.

Should have made a movie where everyone in the world has died and Tom Hanks is the only one left with a Ball and a dog. And a romantic relationship develops between him and the ball and he teaches the dog to take care of the ball when he dies.

If A-Grade is like getting 30% in Africa, then yes, this is an exciting A-Grade movie.
