Hey Guys

This weekend is my 3rd wedding anniversary and I want to treat the misses to a fine dining experience in Rosebank / Sandton and then a hotel stay / airbnb in the area so we dont have to drive. Any recommendations in the area ?

Was looking at Marble maybe.

Thanks

Heard lots of good things about Proud Mary and The Short Market Club.

The Cliquo hotel and Basalt have always gotten my attention but I can’t justify their prices.

Flames at the Westcliff is high up on my list for great food.

Marble is just bleh if you like bland food.

No driving? Can the missus at least play with your gear stick?

It's still Sandton technically so if LBV is still a thing it might be worth a visit. Was great last time I was there. Never been to Marble so cannot compare.

Wombles in Bryanston is larnie and the food is spectacular! Probably set you back the same Randelas as Marble but it feels more down to earth. Just double check if it's still open as haven't been there since 2018. Grillhouse in Alice Lane is great for the amazing views from the terrace and the food is also excellent. Some nice spots around the JSE and Sandton square as well. 1920 in Hyde Park serves amazing Portuguese chow and is more relaxed and fun + plenty AirBNB or guesthouses in the area that won't rip you a new one.

Honestly though, skip the fine dining and rather go to Larosa at Montecasino. Jalapeño infused cocktails, strawberry tequila, order all the starters in rounds throughout the night... fornicate in the hotel afterwards. And churros with ice cream for desert. Whichever order works for you :D

Way more fun that dining on Duck Confit with Cherry-Balsamic Glaze sipping on a Malbec.

Seconding Wombles. Great food and service, and unlike most modern restaurants, it's quiet.

I thought it closed down. They moved just before lockdown and then it looked closed for ages.
I need to go back, loved that place

Marble is great, check out their signature dishes.

Wombles as others have mentioned is quite kewl, not as expensive as others have suggested really. You can definitely enjoy yourself even on a budget.

Also there are "Taste" kitchens (like the Cube in Parktown), which are 12 mini courses but all dishes are fine dining. Its an experience really.

Another option is the dining in the sky experience, where you eat high up in that tower (hope it doesnt rain, lol).

BTW OP, fabulous gesture.

Marble without a doubt :)
That better be some fine-ass hummus..,.

Just teasing but I find vegetarian meals at restaurants like this absurdly overpriced for the most part.

Katzy’s in Rosebank at The Firs right next to Grillhouse. If you like live music then thats a great place to go. They also serve Grillhouse food. Great place to eat, chill, listen to good live music and then have a dance if the mood strikes.
