Hi Guys

I almost forgot I wanted to let you guys know but forgot about it. Till I read a post back in the Off-topic about some stupid kid needing CO2.

Anyway. At Builder's over the weekend I bought some materials for the shelves I was doing at home. I saw they have these small fire extinguishers on special. They are the small ones dono the exact size but it's about 750ml I think. (About the size of a brandy bottle :D)

I bought 3, 1 for each car and 1 for the Kitchen. Just thought I'll let you know. They're R 99 each. Since that accident where that woman burned to death, I wanted to get one and now have 3 :p

Thanks man. :D
I need one for my car and was wondering where to get them for cheaper.

They powder kind? Remember they ony put out small fires.. we had two had an incident with the neighbours kids and the lapa roof:mad: It only squirts powder for a few seconds ( about 4). Then it's finished. I had to use the hosepipe to kill the fire:( The poof of powder helped on a small part but when the fire is big it is useless. Oh and it''s a b!tch to kleen:D

I also told the BF that we had too look into putting someting like that in our cars after the woman that burned. So i'm going to get a huge one :D and i want a fire blanky too:D

I had one in my car ... I took it out and put it in the kitchen. Figured it'll be more valuable in there. I already have 2 1st aid kits in my car...used them on more than one occasion for roadside accidents too.

I doubt they'll help me put out a fire though. :o

i have been thinking about a fire extenguisher for a while now. How long is the expiriy date on these R99 ones?

One is in my Bakkie. Will post it tonight when I get home.

Car is in the parking lot but to far to walk now :D

Don't always store your extinguisher upright in your car or the powder compacts to the bottom due to vibrations and bumps, making it less or completely ineffective.
Shake it or let it roll in the boot for short periods to loosen the powder.

One of those little ones saved our house; it put out the fire completely in a room that was totally engulfed. Damn, was I lucky I still had that 7-year-old extinguisher lying around.

A tip for everyone: get one or two. They may save your life or house. We had three harden hoses there, and they had no effect on the fire; the extingisher put the fire out.

Oke cool i'll fine out why.
My lapa roof kept smouldering and catching fire again. best option was to soak it.

When the fire department arrived (and they seemed rather surprised that we'd put the fire out ourselves), they told us thatch was terrible because it could stay hot and keep smouldering deep inside. When they deal with thatch fires, even after the fire is out, they're obliged to strip the whole thatch roof off and soak it on the ground.

A fire blanket is the best for a kitchen. Like if a pan catches on fire, you throw the blanket over it and starve the fire of oxygen. Or if you don't have a blanket and the fire is not too extreme, you put the lid on the pan. Be careful with an extinguisher as the spray force of the fire retardant will force the burning fat to spray everywhere. For the same reason, do not squirt water on the burning pan
