Firecracker explodes in dog's mouth

2.) The parents shouldn't have allowed the kids to play with them.

+1
I wasn't allowed to play with fireworks until I was way into my teens and even then I saw it hurt my dogs so rather used "pretty" fireworks.

Same as the instance I posted of the father on his quad who could seriously injured his own kids through stupidity.

I wish the worst on idiots that use loud bangs and then harm animals too ...... next time blow your hand off, fscker.

On people doing stupid things, one holiday maker thought it OK to place his 2yr daughter on the front of his quad bike, him in the middle and 5yr son on the back, needless to say the thing rolled going downhill.
Guy broke his pelvis and both kids had broken bones, helicopter came in from East London to collect them.
Last year medi helicopter was at the same camp.

And they never learn.

On topic - that's the reason why I detest fireworks just as well.

I don't mind the pretty ones, but they drive my dog insane, even when they're miles away, she can hear them... and goes balistic.

I agree with the Cape Town approach of using designated area's... unfortunately, one of those is close to home.

I would hold the parents of those kids responsible.
I would file a civil claim against them no matter how much it cost me.
Dogs are like children to some people. I know mine are. And I also have kids who love them to bits.

Poor dog, but comparing it to a child seriously? Sure it's painful when a beloved pet dies but it incomparable to the loss and pain of losing an actual child IMO.

Sweet. Where's my tenders and BEE-related salary?

You'll get them as soon as you hand over your mines and give up your Hollywood lifestyle. :p

Fireworks are a load of tripe. I don't care if it is Diwali, New Years, Chinese New Years, your birthday, Christmas or Guy Fawkes (which as eff all to do with us anyway).

And what gives some of you the right to say how a human should view their pet? I know of a couple that had no interest in having kids and refer to ther 3 dogs as babies. They're happy, the dogs are happy so what gives anyone else the right to tell them how they should view their animals?

What gives you the right to tell me I don't have the right to do something? :p

I haven't told you to do anything. I asked what gives others the right to judge how someone else views their pets. :D

Maybe you do not own a pet, but I can name ten people off the top of my head who would view the loss of a pet in much the same vein as the loss of a child.
Some of those people do not have any children, and their pets are like their children.
You cannot underestimate the strong emotional attachment that some people have to their animals.
This is not saying that the loss of child would be viewed with disdain, what I am saying is that the loss of a pet IS JUST AS BAD AS the loss of a child to them.
