Firefighter shoots commanding officer dead

Can't you guys show some respect instead of jumping on every thread like a spark to dry grass?

I still don't know why employers insist on forcing their supervisors to do this task. It is fraught with danger and the risk of personal injury is high.

I had to do it three times in my career and twice I took along a security detail. It's really an awful experience.

We sent it via registered mail/courier.

We don't hand deliver notices for suspension when employees are absconding, the Post office does or the couriers.

We had to hand deliver them, with a witness.

If the employee was not at home we would slide it under the door, take photos of doing it like that and then make a note on the copy that we kept.

Much easier printing a letter requesting they make contact within the next 48 hours and send it off for someone else to do the dirty work :D

You people disgust me - it's ash if you don't even care.

I wonder if he gets to keep his ceremonial uniform - the pants, the step-outs and the blazer.

Slain firefighters boss described as a 'diligent colleague'

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) say they have lost a diligent colleague who dedicated 20 years of his life to the medical and fire rescue services.

The Orange Farm Commander was shot and killed last night, allegedly by another firefighter who has since been arrested.

It’s understood the commander turned up at the firefighter’s house in Vanderbijlpark last night to hand him a disciplinary letter and was shot dead.

EMS spokesperson Nana Radebe says commander Lesedi Mphatswe was a skilled professional and a diligent firefighter.

She says he was a teacher and he will be sorely missed.

“He succumbed to death last night. He had worked selflessly over 21 years; a very dedicated and passionate firefighter.”
