please post your favourite Firefox help and extension sites here... or point me to another thread... I want to create a resource for some friends to install firefox.

My FF updated earlier today.

As for "3.0b4pre" I think I'll just lean back and wait for it to come around the old fashioned way :D

I've been using FF2 portable for ages and now I switched over ro FF3b4 potable, but it is way more unresponsive, which I found strange, since the normal it's supposed to be so much faster and more strealined than FF2... Must be a portableapps thing. Hopefuly they'll sort it out, but for now I'm sticking with FF2 portable.

Firefox Security patches issued

If you use version 2 of Mozilla's Firefox browser, you should download an important security update as soon as possible.

That's the warning from Mozilla, who has released Firefox 2.0.0.13 to patch several security issues in the software.

"We strongly recommend that all Firefox users upgrade to this latest release. If you already have Firefox 2.x, you will receive an automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours. This update can also be applied manually by selecting 'Check for Updates' from the Help menu," Mozilla said in a statement.

The issues fixed include a vulnerability that could let a hacker 'spoof' a URL, meaning that you would be directed to a rogue website even though the URL in the address bar looked normal.

Other issues involved memory corruption and a problem in the way the browser handles JavaScript.

Security firm Secunia gave the flaws a 'highly critical' rating.

The news comes a day after two flaws in Apple's Safari 3.1 for Windows browser were reported.

Mozilla is currently working on version 3 of Firefox. There have already been several beta versions, the most recent of which is Firefox 3 Beta 4, and there will be a fifth beta before the final, full version is officially launched.
