FireFox 3.5 benchmarks

I also love firefox for its plugins but will move over to Chrome in a heartbeat if it supported the add-ons. Here are some benchmarks using
http://dante.dojotoolkit.org/taskspeed

Seems that Firefox 3.5 is only marginally better than FireFox 3.0, but still can't beat the other speed demons.

Opera 10 => 202ms
Safari 4 => 308ms
Chrome => 387ms
Firefox 3.5 => 444ms
Firefox 3.0 => 668ms
IE 8 => 859ms

I find FF 3.5 noticeably faster than ver. 3

But it does not (yet) support the Gears add-on, so I can't synchro my GMail so I can view my mails when offline. Otherwise I like it.

“The newest version of Firefox is more than two times faster than Firefox 3 and ten times faster than Firefox 2 on complex websites. With extensive under the hood work to support new technologies, Firefox 3.5 is the most powerful and complete modern browser and helps upgrade the Web experience.”

Did they test this a Phakisa or Kyalami?

I Just miss my 'Duplicate tab' that Tab mix plus provided hope they update it soon. all the rest of my addons are up to date :)

love it - just clicked on Help > Update. easy peasy.
IE doesn't have this, does it? lol...

i'll post my comments in a few days.

copy and paste dont work in fact mouse right click dont work for me

Holly crap this thing is fast!

wha wha whee whaa! me likes!

Most of the features that people like about Chrome, can easily be emulated with different add-ons. I once found a web site that listed the add-ons needed to get firefox to look exactly like chrome, but I can't find it now :(

I just noticed there's a new feature on the gmail website where you can move drag and move mail, is this available in previous versions of the browser?

3.5 is faster. Very nice.

But, my Google toolbar isn't working properly, I don't get mouseover text and my grid of recently visited websites doesn't display when I open a new tab.

Faster is great, but fully working is even better. I expected more from Mozilla.:(

The new add tab botton isn't needed. What's wrong with the old one? They should have just made the old one show up by default.

:(Now I see that google spell check isn't working.:( I WANT FF3 BACK. :(:(:mad:

Edit: Yay, reinstalled Google toolbar, now it's working again, and mouseover text is back.:)

Edit PS: spellchecker still isn't working.:(

One other small change that is very nice... and this used to irritate me no end.

When you start Firefox, it often pops up and tells you that an update to your add-ons is available. Then you click OK to install the update. When the update was complete, you then had to click Continue to finish loading Firefox. They have now done away with that second step. If the update is successful, the Firefox just loads automatically. Minor thing, but I always wondered why that second click was necessary.

Major issue with upgrading to 3.5

Major issue with upgrading to 3.5 - many systems are NOT transferring saved passwords etc from 3 to 3.5. Don't understand why this should have been screwed up - it has never happened before when upgrading FF and is really disappointing.

Lots & lots of detailed instructs on the forum, but I really don't have time for this ....

my first gripe is that the last tab open has no close button... not even when you right click on the last tab. Sometimes I want to close the last tab for privacy sake or just tidiness... but leave Firefox open to finish the downloads. Try it. You can't close the last tab open. You used to be able to do that quite easily in Firefox 3.0.x
