Firefox 4 FINAL - Available now!(from the links in thread only)

The Linux downloads only contain the binary files with no install scripts. This site gives a way to set up those binaries to run from the menus you're used to:
http://www.johannes-eva.net/how-to-install-firefox-on-ubuntu-linux
(and also how to set up an Ubuntu repository).

I'm just running it from ~/bin/firefox at the mo to test it out. If I don't like it, I still have 3.6.16 installed. I did have a problem with font rendering (hinting), but I seem to have fixed that. I really don't like that they decided to do away with the status bar, but will check out status-4-evar soon.

The fix works on my desktop, but not on my netbook. It's very irritating, so my netbook is going back to 3.6.16 until someone at Mozilla does something

i've noticed a number of you love the new layout of firefox!... But honestly firefox 4 is utter Sh~T Don't want the tabs at the top... manged to move that down. Some windows won't respond... double clicking the tab bar minimizes the screen instead of opening a new tab.... (Yes I know you have to click the + button next to the end tab... The bloody home page button is sitting on the far right... COMMON!!!... the refresh button and stop button is a rumor... took me forever to find it...

you guys enjoy it - i'm rolling back to 3.6 until the idiots who made firefox 4 catches a wakeup! I really don't have time for buggy software! On my laptop the thing keeps crashing. My other half's computer clicking anything on facebook or some other web pages like google don't do anything until you refresh it a couple of times... My pc much the same and its crashing when it feels like it..... Oh and dare you have two firefox sessions running... oh it becomes SO SLOW!....

not sure if anybody else is having these problems, but I've already had enough!.........
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ****it

I blame Apple (as usual), it's their policy of "simplifying" everything that has led to this. One day they'll simplify their browser to the point of removing the back button! And the sheep at firefox just follow, because "everyone on twitter loves apple". Well here's a news-flash developers: Twitter is filled with idiots with too much time on their hands. Us real users want more control, not less. And we don't like change.

Obviously I'm back on FF3, and will be until FF4 improves big time, or I'm dragged from it kicking and screaming, like an IE6 user.

Did you know... Apple indicator lights (like the HDD light) disappear when not in use. Not just turn off, they disappear completely!!??!? So now instead of having an indicator with two states (on and off) you've got an indicator with only one. Just like the transparent menus in FF4. And I'd imagine that the missing indicator lights are as useful as transparent menus. "But they look pretty." IDIOTS, the whole lot of them.
