Firefox 7 has been released

My Firefox in Windows 7 detected the upgrade yesterday already .. the ubuntu version has not detected the update yet

I am yet to detect an available upgrade  ... anyhow, it seems like it was just the other day that I upgraded to v6. Wait a minute, it was  :p

Memory usage is still the same for me :( - disappointing

310 MB

Two copies of FF on the taskbar. One has three tabs from this site. The other has an audio stream from twit.tv.

Pathetic.

Been a FF fan for years using it all day every day on multiple computers, but this version 7 seems the opposite of "faster" and "less memory usage". It's using 400 Mb of memory, not that that's a big deal, but for the first time ever FF "feels" sluggish. Everything seems "delayed" - opening a link, a new tab, minimizing and maximizing the window. But the worst is the bookmarks and history buttons - they even freeze for about 2 secs before opening. I hope Mozilla address this, 'cos it's really annoying.

Edit: Lol - can't hardly believe this. Clicked on help > about firefox and it started downloading an update : version 7.01 ! And the button delay is gone! I think I should buy a lotto ticket today!

How does it compare to Chrome? Or does that come down to personal preference?

Couple of educated guesses plus trial & error. Disabling MSE real-time protection & no more freezes. That fixed *my* FF freezing...others might have different issues.

MSE picked up a virus on chrome tonight, so I upgraded the firefox and yup... it crashed!

I doubt the virus was on chrome itself but rather perhaps in the cache from a website you just visited... ??

Who cares how often they upgrade and whether or not it is a major or minor upgrade.
I'm just glad they are upgrading often.

Was'nt it a false positive ? I think i read somewhere online about it being an error on microsofts part. Not entirely certain though
