Firefox and Chrome knock Internet Explorer market share

I thought XP was released in 2001
 
i see ie6 is still sitting around 20%
i was initially against europe banning ie being installed natively on win7 distro's
but now i totally agree. ms should not be allowed to bundle ie with their os again, for the sake of our children's future.

We should really have picked that up. It is a direct quote from the company CEO, but unless they are particularly clueless I think he may have meant early 2000's (I hope) :)
 
According to the table at the end Google had browser market share in Jan 2007 already. What browser did google have at that time cause AFAIK Chrome was only released Sep 2008. :?
 
Not sure why I revel in the decline of IE, but I do :rolleyes: :D

FF's slight decline because of Chrome's rise? ;)

Regardless I like the apps & addons FF brings. For the time being FF is tight for me :)
 
I find that I am using Chrome a lot more of late. It's leaner on memory. On my desktop I use Opera because it has 4GB of RAM so memory is less of an issue.
 
I am currently running Opera 10.50 (beta1) and it really is the slickest and fastest browser on earth. Its integration into Windows7 is supreme and you get a lot of bang from such a small package. It makes FF and Chrome look as bloated as MS Office 2003.

It certainly seems blisteringly quick

And they've fixed that annoying bit about having to "modify appearance & Save" to drag tabs onto your personal bar, now you can just do it.
 
I too am loving the new Opera 10.5, very impressive, in fact, I've now imported all my email into the browser too.....
 
ah, good to see braindead IE sliding into zombie oblivion.

Microsoft should drop IE completely and use Firefox or Chrome instead.

Or Opera, in fact, any other browser except for IE.

Was wondering, if your OS doesn't have a native browser, how would you install a new one, if you can't browse the net?

:D Well spotted that one :D

Microsoft can setup icons for the user to click for a browser install, and the process will be completely automatic. Not sure how it will deal with broken links etc, but that's a problem for another day. Braver souls can always use command-line FTP :D

IBM's OS/2 Warp v4 had a very basic web browser, and you could use that to download Netscape.
 
back in the bad old days folks went to the store and bought it.

Free IE did bring about Free other browsers, but I doubt that was MS's intention.

mozilla? ie6?

I thought Firefox was Mozilla. Does that mean like the 20% IE6 crowd, that 1.7% of users still use the old Mozilla? I'd have thought that at least the Mozilla crowd would be savvy enough to upgrade? The IE6 crowd are probably still using win98/2000 which don't support IE7/8.
