Hey

I know some people can download without running firefox on the background. can I ask how people do that?

Like just that it is still downloading, but it doesn't show on windows or anything...

THanks

It's not clear what you mean, one of two options I guess:

1. You don't want the firefox download progress window to show while downloading (which shows a list of downloads completed and in progress).
In this case, you can either just close that little window after starting a download, or modify your preferences in /Tools / Options / General - untick the option "Show the Download window while downloading a file".

2. You might mean that NO firefox windows at all are showing while downloading.
For this you'd need to use a so-called download manager, e.g. FreeDownloadManager (this one's my favourite - free, flexible and powerful) which kicks in automatically whenever you start a download using firefox. Once the download has started, you can close all firefox windows while the download continues. Of course you still need to use firefox in the first place to initiate the download.

Hope this helps.

you can close firefox while downloading, and it will continue afaik - only the window will remain open...

if you wanna hide it completely, get something like Getright or something that minimizes to tray

It actually minimizes to your task bar and will pop up if you click on it - the little window can be closed

You see guys.. I'm trying to download something at my work..

And they have limited me to install any software.. They already have firefox.. the internet is fast.. but only after hours.. they have unlimited download which I want to use... but for some reason, everytime I try to download in the computer room.. some stupid fag stops it.. so I want to know whether firefox can download something without ANYTHING being opened..

Like nothing on the task bar ETC..

Downloading other software the computers there won't allow me to install so no use.. I did download this thing call Download all or all download that goes with firefox.. but that didn't work.. it slowed down that computer alot...

Anyway, side bar? Any reccomendations?

I thought fire fox doesn't allow add-on...

Thanks guys

Use Opera Portable then.

Edit: Use 4Tray Minimiser in conjunction with Opera Portable.
