Firefox plans to block Java, Silverlight, Adobe Reader

In a drive to increase security, Mozilla will begin blocking plugins

And the open web become closed. The open web is great but let's not fool ourselves it is all out war and yet they tell people that it is free and open and peace and hipster. They are simply fighting for survival and it is starting to come across as desperate. The browser is dead, long live the webkit container :)

Web browsers will still be with us for a long, long time to come.

All of those good intentions undone by still allowing Adobe Flash

The browser is certainly not dead. Its growing and thriving now more than ever. Lol. funniest comment I have read today.

While you do get exploits for flash I have never seen a payload delivered with flash. I see it all the time with Java and Adobe Reader. I dont run Microsoft during working hours so I dont know much about it, but so far as Java and AR go.... ALL THE TIME! Flash... never seen a RAT pushed through a flash player exploit.

I think they are trying to crack down on crypter rats and other virus payloads with this.

Thanks, I thought it was hilarious :D

I see a missed a word in my last post :/ I always forget out words :( Cluttered mind I guess. With the comment re Microsoft, I mean to say Silverlight in that sentence.

A move in the right direction, with soon to be released version 20 supporting H.264 video streaming, I think its high time they kick out that abomination called Adobe Flash support from all current browsers.

The latest version of Adboe Flash will still be allowed by default.

I suppose Mozilla has its reasons (keeping the flashturbating users happy and maintaining market share) but I really wish Mozilla had disabled Flash by default.

This is why I dont use firefox... no bawls.

Oracle Java, Microsoft silverlight and adobe reader and flash are closed, this will force the web to be more open.

as much as I hate those plugins I need them
