Firefox vs Safari

i would think its the same as firefox for windows and linux

It works fine and gives you access to all of firefox's extensions (its only selling point for me). It has never really fitted in with OS X's style but that has gotten a little better in firefox 3.

Personally I prefer Safari and only use Firefox when I want to debug a page with firebug.

In the end I think it comes down to personal preference. I use a mixture of both.

Safari I use for browsing sites as it is a bit faster than Firefox when loading pages.

Firefox I mainly use for doing all my online banking. It's more compatible as far as I can tell.

Firefox 3 got released yesterday, havent tried it yet tho.

Firefox 3 is really good. Been using it for a day now. Much quicker and I like the new features in it. The look is a little weird, but that is fine, I'll get used to it or change it. I use it on a Macbook at home.

Yeah I must admit the look and feel is something to get used too.

I believe Apple are going to fight back pretty soon with Safari 4! :-D

Firefox 3 is great. Doesn't integrate as neatly with spotlight compared to Safari, but its worth it for ADBLOCK alone...

Been using FF for a while now, and must say that I prefer it to Safari.
A couple of pages it doesn't render perfectly, but overall really nice.
Haven't tried any addons yet.

I've made FF3 my default for now, much better UI than before... fits leopard nicely.

I'm trying to book a flight on flymango and pay via bank internet bank transfer.
The site says "POLi" can only be used with IE6 or above.

So u can't use Safari or Firefox.
Pain in the ass.

U can pay via Credit card on any browser though...

Take your business elsewhere then. Seriously. If people still make sites that depend on IE to function, they don't deserve your money.

Yeah, I've got some downloads running and don' want to boot to XP, will have to book from work just now.
Going to Bloem, so can't use Kulula.

For interest, I had the same thing happen to me last night. The site in question did work but it did give me a javascript popup telling me to "upgrade to IE6.0 or later" which sent me right over the edge. So before compiling my very unsatisfied response, I looked up the browser market share. As of may 2008:

IE7: 26.5%
IE6: 27.3%
IE5: 0.7%
Firefox: 39.8%
Mozilla: 0.7%
Safari: 2.4%
Opera: 1.5%

So IE is still ahead by a small and ever shrinking margin. linky...

Enable the "Develop menu" and you can change safari's user-agent to reflect IE6+ and it might well work.

U have to install this "POLi" app, if you want to use Internet banking to pay.
Only works on IE6+ it seems.
I didn't want to install the app.

Ended up paying via credit card, which I don't like doing.
