Awesome thanks Mr CattWe get bosveld mix delivered by Bobaas Bosveld Hout who are based in Vereeniging, as do my BIL, SIL and SIL’s boyfriend. You can contact Robbie on 073 069 9621 or [email protected], I am not sure what their minimum delivery amount is, they bring around 150 extra large bags between the four houses for us.
Yeah 1-2 an hour my side tooI'm also on 2 pieces per hour. The fans really help to make the heat work better in a very large room.
Black wattle is a nice wood to burn in the combustion stoves, gives off a nice winter fire smell and it burns to a nice soft ash to clean the window withAll I know is, stay away from rooikrans for enclosed fire places.
Blue gum is nice and cheap and the go to, as long as it is seasoned, meaning, been standing outside for more than a year. I am using wood from last year and it's burning amazing. That same wood was useless last year.
I hear black wattle is OK too, but I have no experience with it.
Do you have a pic of the fans?I'm also on 2 pieces per hour. The fans really help to make the heat work better in a very large room.
It's near impossible to show without disassembling parts of it, bit too lazy for that now. It's built into the unit.Do you have a pic of the fans?
We've used Firewood Farm (actually expecting a delivery from them today) and StompiesAnyone have a recommended firewood supplier in Pretoria?
I have enough for a month or two from last year but need to stock up sooner than later - usually supplier didnt get their supply.
Oooh let me know how it goes I did a cord for 950 with free delivery from my old supplier a pity its 580 flat delivery might just take two cords then. Please let me know how it goesWe've used Firewood Farm (actually expecting a delivery from them today) and Stompies
I thought bluegum was possibly the best type to use for closed combustion fireplaces. If I look at Stompies website, what would be the best to buy as i really don't want to blow up my fireplace and need to source wood this week. We've used Firewood Farm (actually expecting a delivery from them today) and Stompies
That site doesn't list what is good for closed combustion fireplaces. You should be good with either bluegum or blackwattle. Dont use rooikrans in closed combusation at all.I thought bluegum was possibly the best type to use for closed combustion fireplaces. If I look at Stompies website, what would be the best to buy as i really don't want to blow up my fireplace and need to source wood this week.
My Goodwood logs are klaar and like a moron, forgot to place the order early this year and they appear to be out. Love using them as they are easy to break to fit into the mouth of my fireplace which is a bit tiny sometimes.
Cheers
I use bluegum works great in my closed combustion but mine can cater to all wood types up to anthracite.I thought bluegum was possibly the best type to use for closed combustion fireplaces. Thank you. It's near impossible to show without disassembling parts of it, bit too lazy for that now. It's built into the unit.
This is the unit closed. You can see there is an opening all around the door. Bottom is where air goes in. Top is where the air leave, when the fans are on.

This is the door open. The fans sit inside at the bottom, one on the left of the ash tray, other right of the ash tray.
