They didn't pitchAnd? How'd it go?
we try again tomorrowTiny block of WW or any other fire lighter then some kindly against that once the heat starts pulling air up the flue add two or three chunks of wood then close the door and keep the vent open on full for 2 min then choke it down from there. What do you fancy fire people use to start the fire?
Prepaid? or COD?They didn't pitchwe try again tomorrow
Ah okay, used to do that but Firelighters end up being expensive. So now I just throw all the teabags in a glas jar filled with methylated spirits and then use one teabag on a bit of news paper. You can also use Paraffin or if you want to put in a bit more effort someone mentioned candle wax.Tiny block of WW or any other fire lighter then some kindly against that once the heat starts pulling air up the flue add two or three chunks of wood then close the door and keep the vent open on full for 2 min then choke it down from there.
If you dont use a fire lighter its a painful start.
That works too you just need a good starter otherwise its a long drawn out process.Ah okay, used to do that but Firelighters end up being expensive. It does but I just started using smaller and smaller pieces. Its the length of the burn not the size, the wood should be dry enough to catch.Ah okay, used to do that but Firelighters end up being expensive. It's similar to the teabag method except someone needed their yard to be clean. It does but I just started using smaller and smaller pieces. Its the length of the burn not the size, the wood should be dry enough to catch.
I found an eco solution the other day, waxed rhino poo. They burn a lot longer than fire lighters, like a candle and so you only ever use one.
Someone gave me a packet of those once. I was skeptical but they worked very well. Had a catchy name too: "Rhino Balls".I found an eco solution the other day, waxed rhino poo. They burn a lot longer than fire lighters, like a candle and so you only ever use one.
Yes, I was glad to find out that it was the droppings and not the danglies though.Someone gave me a packet of those once. I was skeptical but they worked very well. Had a catchy name too: "Rhino Balls".

Are you getting cold? Then yes it is worth it.Is installing a fireplace worth it with regards to the cost (3.5m ceilings and another 3 point something meters to the roof) as well as servicing, cleaning and smell? Sure the ambience might be great but is the maintenance worth it?
Yes. And closed wood stoves / fireplaces give off no smell. Is installing a fireplace worth it with regards to the cost (3.5m ceilings and another 3 point something meters to the roof) as well as servicing, cleaning and smell? Perhaps a closed one will have less issues with cleaning and smell. Sure the ambience might be great but is the maintenance worth it?

They're my favourite and I used to buy them in bulk from Takealot, but they haven't had stock of the 6 packs for a while now. Love that they don't smell like anything.Someone gave me a packet of those once. I was skeptical but they worked very well. Had a catchy name too: "Rhino Balls".
