so today at 14:45 I receive an e-mail from vumatel stating that firestream will no longer be able to be my ISP as of the 30th of June midnight, now I'm wondering if I'll be getting my activation fee back, or if I'd be able to take action against them if I don't.(oddly enough, despite all the bad reviews I've seen, I've had no issues and haven't had to call them in the 7 months I've been on fibre)

e-mail from vumatel:

Please note that Firestream is no longer able to serve you as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) on the VUMA Fibre network. Your service with Firestream, as communicated by them will therefore be suspended at midnight (00h00) on 30 June 2019. Don't panic! All that means is that you will need to select a new internet package from a different ISP and you will be able to carry on enjoying super-fast world-class fibre broadband internet.

We believe that Home Connect has an arrangement with Firestream to make this transition as smooth as possible and you are welcome to reach out to them via their website.

Alternatively, please visit shop.vumatel.co.za to select another internet package from the Internet Service Provider of your choice. Vumatel offers you a world of choice with over 50 ISPs and hundreds of deals to choose from.

dont stress just choose another isp, recommend supersonic, vox, macrolan, homeconnect, websquad, cool ideas.

well, I've opted for Cybersmart, let's hope for a decent experience.

got a tiny mikrotik hAP router with it, which my provided password doesn't seem to work on, but hey, what's important is that I'm connected

I'm at my wits end with firestream. Connectivity keeps dropping several times an hour and then I have to deal with their excuses that the modem isn't getting power???

How is Cybersmart? Need a new ISP soon.

I've had no issues on my Cybersmart, so far so good, no downtime to report since switching.

I would Bail if you are still with them, and beware of Vumatel hunting you down for their Installation costs that Firestream never paid over to Vumatel

Moved from firestream last week. What an absolute nightmare!
Had to call the KAM at Metrofibre and get my line released manually.
The owner (mark from firestream) does not answer calls, respond to messages, or be decent enough to honour his commitments to clients, that despite formally confirming that my service with firestream was terminated.
BEWARE of snakes like them!

Couldn't agree more. I had to find out from Vumatel, that actually sms'd me to let me know Firestream would no longer be my ISP, but absolutely Nothing form Firestream themselves. That and the fact that they never paid over the R1725 to Vumatel for the installation, so, basically, a "CashGrab"

Experienced the same, I had to call Metrofibre and also send them the proof of the confirmations the line would be released. Migrating wasnt easy. Just happy its done.
