Trying to use an Option Express HSDPA (Vodafone GE0201 with PCMCIA adapter) in a Linksys WRT54G3G running v2.10.17.

Does work well once connected (got 2.6Mbps), but my problem is it battles to create the connection, mostly when using dial on demand. Usually requires requires 2 (or more) attempts. Have tried at 2 different locations (BSs) but getting same result.

Card is running 1.11.4Hd (Date: Jan 30 2007) firmware. Latest updater (includes 7.2Mbps) I've found on the net is ... Vodafone UK_Etna_FW_2_8_0.exe which says it will upgrade the card to 2.8.0Hd.

Q for V3G, would this firmware be OK on the Vodacom net (obviously @ 3.6) or is there some other alternate newer version I should be using?

Can't see any harm in trying. Let me know how it goes.

Otherwise I can first ask?

should not be a problem there are some users on here who downloaded the hauwei software FW straight from the manufacturer...i personally dont think you will brick it

Well got that off the net as well ... is your's custom/tweaked compared to Vodafone original?

Have asked for a copy to send to you. On the Etna 2.8.0 you saw on the net, this is the response I got from the guys in the know.

What I have seen from the Vodafone site is that the Etna is meant for the GE0301. If it will work on the GE0201, I don’t know and I won’t try. He might stuff up the card.
