"The world's first Commodore 64 LAN party was held at the Cincinnati Commodore Computer Club 2008 Expo last weekend, where the new multiplayer C64 game NetRacer was unveiled. The setup consists of up to eight Commodore 64s with Ethernet cartridges and a central server written in Java running on a PC. The game is also playable over the Internet."

This is basically like a bunch of sailors getting together ... bring up the Titanic.. and using it to water ski.

Go geeks!

:D:D:D

Interesting.

Now the 48k ZX Spectrum should also follow suit :D

I still do have a soft spot for the ZX Spectrum and PC's from that era. The games was much simpler and more fun.

Simpler.. yes.. more fun. Not a chance. No ways a bunch of blocks can beat the thrill of chasing down an enemy pilot (who is flying something like a Chinese J-10).. and you are in something lame like an F-35b.. getting lock... watching the flairs shooting out.. holding back.. then when alls clear.. letting rip 6 AA missiles.

No way games where more fun.. if they were.. you are playing the wrong games!

Have too agree with that, somebody giving their real age away by saying those games were more fun lol.

Hey, you youngsters don't know what it was like staying up all night trying to finish Manic Miner or Jetset Willie. Those were the days...;)

And yes, I DO play all the latest and greatest games, but there was just something so addictive about those old games.

You were younger and had more time to play them? Also, there was a lack of choice.. so it was "Play California games and like it!"

I like old games, but not that old.

Cool old games to me are things like LucasArts adventures (esp. Monkey Island, no prizes for guessing), Sierra adventures, Ultma 8, maybe Halloween Harry.

I still play those all the time.

C64 games are boring as hell to me (most of them anyway), I think I played "the bobbit" on an emulator a while back.

the problem with nostalgia is that it preserves the good memories and, like good wine, they only get better with time.

Don't miss the 40 minutes wait for the casette player to load the game.

I remember jamming on Fushe Pass, or whatever its called. The one with two j-10s and 2 f-18`s. I was chasing down an F18 flown by someone in FIB... I locked on him, he dropped his flairs. I change targeting solutions so it sounded like my lock was gone and he stopped jumping around like a jack rabbit. Followed him into the gorge... the other f18 join his wing. I changed targeting solutions .. expected the other F-18 to drop flairs.. it didnt. So I let all 6 missiles go. 3 curved perfectly to the one jet.. 3 to the other. I had a happy moment :P

Though it doesnt always work like that. My missiles love friendly intakes for some reason.
