So what is YOUR experience with 8ta?Telkom is one big epic fail. Did you expect anything more from their mobile arm?

'ello Miss AvAVoucher I loaded reflects. Had to do the manual thing for internet settings as it's probably an older phone and whatever was done (clearly not by me) worked.
Took a few days for the RICA registration to register. Still haven't received the welcome SMS with the phone number. Had a mission of a time finding a place that sold the airtime, eventually had to check the phone number by doing the *140 thing. But I now know that CNA seems to be the only store selling airtime near me. This was the biggest annoyance for me - I don't want to have to wander around to find airtime; it should be available wherever I buy my groceries from/on online banking.
Haven't made calls/sent SMS' yet, so I can't comment on those yet.
There's still no sign of Telkom 8ta responding to my voucher problem. If this is their best shot then I'm gonna set the sim on fire and post it to them. Really!
Have they said when they'll integrate it with online banking? I never buy airtime in the real world. always on the net!Voucher I loaded reflects. Had to do the manual thing for internet settings as it's probably an older phone and whatever was done (clearly not by me) worked.

You can port but only at selected stores... see one of the other threads I think someone posted it there. See my earlier post regarding online recharging.Same here. Except, I only buy airtime via cellphone banking.
Anyway, I bought and RICA's my 8ta sim the other day. I'm annoyed that I can't port my number, or buy airtime online. For now, my 8ta sim is gonna lay in my drawer until Telkom get their act together. I guess I'll stick with Cell C who haven't really bothered me, although those their minutes isn't really all that great, considering that most of the people I know aren't on Cell C.
My experience thusfar...
Went to Telkom Direct Shop.
Got the sim card for free, did the RICA thing.
Almost immediately got the 2 SMS saying balance is less then R5, then balance = R0.
Did not get the welcome SMS immediately.
TDS staff told me to send a "Call Me" from the 8ta phone to my other phone.
Got number from above.
Loaded airtime.
No problems thusfar.
Online Recharging?
Apparently ABSA/Nedbank from this coming week and FNB in 2 weeks time.
Internet connection operates at 234kb/sec and says MTN EDGE. I enquired why I don't get 3.6mb/sec like it says on the website and was told I didn't buy enough data. What a lot of crap!
3 days later I asked again, this time it was "connection issues". I asked whether it is on my side or their side and was told my 3G modem was out of date.
Today I asked again, and was then told that 3G is 234kb/sec, there is no service available at 3.6 or 7.2mb/sec. When I advised that this is what is stated on their website, I was told he didn't have anything to do with the website so was not his fault
Full marks on how not to run a business!
